The standardised death rate from viral hepatitis in Cyprus stood at 0.21 deaths per 100,000 people in 2023, according to data published on Tuesday by Eurostat.
At EU level, viral hepatitis caused 0.64 deaths per 100,000 people in 2023.
According to Eurostat, the highest standardised death rates were recorded in Italy, with 1.62 deaths per 100,000 people, Latvia with 1.54 and Austria with 1.02.
The lowest rates were recorded in Luxembourg, where no deaths from hepatitis were reported in 2023, Finland with 0.07 and Slovenia with 0.13.
