Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards (SSA) 2026

Sustainability is no longer simply an environmental aspiration-it has become a strategic imperative for governments, businesses, institutions, and communities worldwide. As Sri Lanka continues its journey towards sustainable economic growth and responsible development, organizations across the country are embracing innovative solutions that balance economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility.

Recognizing these remarkable efforts, the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) successfully organized the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards (SSA) 2026, Sri Lanka’s premier national sustainability recognition programme. Held on 11 July 2026 at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton Colombo, the awards brought together distinguished government representatives, industry leaders, corporate organizations, professional institutions, academia, and sustainability champions to celebrate organizations and individuals making an extraordinary contribution towards a sustainable Sri Lanka.

The Vision Behind SSA

The Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards (SSA) was established by the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) with the vision of creating a nationally recognized platform that celebrates organizations, institutions, brands, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sustainability and responsible development.

The concept for SSA was initiated through extensive research and creative development by Mr. Sagara Gunawardana, Chairman and Managing Director of Saga Group, who identified the growing need for a prestigious national awards programme dedicated exclusively to sustainability excellence across all sectors of the Sri Lankan economy.

Drawing inspiration from internationally recognized sustainability award programmes, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks, and global best practices, Mr. Gunawardana developed the concept and framework of the awards. The proposal was subsequently presented to and discussed with the leadership of the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB).

Recognizing the national importance and long-term value of this initiative, CIOB embraced the concept and established the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards (SSA) as one of its flagship national programmes. Today, SSA has become one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious sustainability recognition platforms, encouraging organizations to integrate sustainability into their business strategies while inspiring innovation, responsible leadership, environmental stewardship, community development, and long-term value creation.orsed by National Leadership
