Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been hospitalised following a mental health emergency that prompted a response from emergency services at his Miami home.
According to reports, authorities were alerted on Tuesday after members of the public raised concerns about content shared during a social media livestream.
The content was later removed, while Hilton’s TikTok account was subsequently suspended.
In a statement, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed it responded to reports of a man experiencing a mental health crisis after receiving calls from the public. Although officials did not identify the individual by name, they said deputies met with family members at the scene and adopted de-escalation measures while monitoring the situation.
The sheriff’s office explained that in incidents involving mental health crises, officers prioritise communication and crisis intervention techniques to reduce the risk of harm whenever there is no immediate danger to others.
Authorities later confirmed that the individual was safely transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical care.
Hilton’s managers, Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, also released a joint statement, saying they were aware of the situation involving their client.
‘Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family,’ the statement read, adding that they had not yet been able to establish direct contact with him and would not speculate until more information was available.
Perez Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., rose to prominence in the mid-2000s through his celebrity gossip website, which became one of the most influential entertainment blogs of its era.
Although the blog’s popularity later declined, Hilton remained active in the entertainment industry through reality television appearances and podcasting. He recently announced that he had relocated from Las Vegas to Miami with his three children.
