Thushantha appointed Indian Chamber of Commerce Chief Country Rep. in Sri Lanka

In a significant development aimed at further strengthening economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and India, Thushantha Karunanayake has been appointed as the Chief Country Representative, Sri Lanka by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The appointment was announced during the recently concluded India-Sri Lanka Bilateral Delegation Visit, marking an important milestone in enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and commercial engagement between the two countries.

Founded in 1925, the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is one of India’s oldest and most influential business organisations. Headquartered in Kolkata, ICC is the country’s leading national Chamber of Commerce and has been at the forefront of promoting trade, industry, and investment for over a century. The Chamber works closely with governments, policymakers, industry leaders, and international business communities to foster sustainable economic growth, encourage cross-border investments, and strengthen global business partnerships.

As the Chief Country Representative for Sri Lanka, Thushantha Karunanayake will play a pivotal role in representing the Indian Chamber of Commerce within Sri Lanka while facilitating stronger business relationships between the two nations. His responsibilities will include promoting bilateral trade and investment, supporting business delegations, encouraging strategic partnerships, engaging with policymakers, and creating platforms for collaboration between Sri Lankan and Indian enterprises across a wide range of industries.

Thushantha, brings with him extensive leadership experience spanning multiple industrial sectors, with a proven track record in business development, strategic planning, international partnerships, and industrial solutions. Presently heads PCL Solutions Ltd., a member of the MJF Group, the Parent organisation of the globally renowned Dilmah Tea Brand.

His broad industry exposure and deep understanding of regional markets position him well to support the Chamber’s vision of expanding economic cooperation and creating new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
