Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor mocked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke by sharing what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on social media.
The music star, who has continued to defend his uncle, Governor Adeleke, made the post without adding any caption. However, many social media users interpreted it as a response to Okpebholo’s recent remarks about the Osun governor.
Governor Okpebholo had mocked Adeleke, saying the Osun governor is always dancing before taking action.
Although Davido did not write anything alongside the image, the post quickly attracted reactions from his followers.
One seun_babarinde_ wrote, ‘Aura for aura.’
One honorableomm wrote, ‘Why won’t you love Davido?’
One sassyb791 wrote, ‘Monday D7S.’
One Sharpest Temitope wrote, ‘Band 4 band.’
The latest exchange comes as political conversations surrounding the August 8 Osun State governorship election continue to dominate social media.
Earlier, former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad also exchanged words with Davido online and mocked the singer over his Grammy loss while both argued over the Osun governorship election.
Before then, Davido had appealed to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to support a free and fair election in Osun. The singer said he has a strong connection to Imo State because his wife, Chioma, is from the state.
In another post, Davido said he likes the Imo governor because he comes from his wife’s state but added that they would ‘meet on the field,’ referring to the election.
Davido has also been vocal in defending Governor Adeleke against critics.
The singer previously took a swipe at NURTW chieftain MC Oluomo after he criticised Governor Adeleke over the suspension of transport workers in Osun, mocking his spoken English.
He also trolled Reno Omokri, calling him a ‘dog’ and a ‘fowl’ following comments the former presidential aide made during an interview about his diplomatic appointment.
Davido had equally called out former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, describing him as ‘the most desperate politician in the world,’ although he did not explain what led to the remark.
