The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and 9mm live ammunition during a crackdown on cult activities in Mushin.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit following credible intelligence on the activities of cult groups in the area.
One of the suspects, identified as Irawo Moshod, was reportedly arrested first and allegedly told investigators that he was a former chairman of the Aiye Confraternity.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who confirmed the arrest, stated that Moshod made useful disclosures about the activities of the group, including his alleged involvement in several killings in Mushin and other parts of Lagos.
She said acting on the information, the operatives proceeded to Idi-Oro, Mushin, where they recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and one 9mm live ammunition.
The Lagos State Police Spokesperson disclosed that detectives subsequently arrested three other suspected members of the group at Aganran by Ojuwoye.
