The Federal Government has begun discussions with Chinese firm Zhenjiang Risesun Science and Technology Co. Ltd on collaboration in power, mining, food security and modern security technologies, to accelerate the country’s technological development.
The Director-General, Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO), Magaji Da’u Aliyu, disclosed this when the Chinese delegation visited the complex’s Abuja headquarters, a statement by SHESTCO’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Akubo Augustine, said yesterday.
Aliyu said the proposed partnership aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and identified energy, solid minerals, food security and security systems as priority areas. He said the collaboration would help develop technologies to improve electricity generation and distribution, support responsible mineral exploitation and value addition, and strengthen agricultural productivity and storage.
The Chinese delegation, led by General Manager for Overseas Business, Tina Yu, said the company was ready to support Nigeria’s power infrastructure, mining and security systems, and to build the technical capacity of local scientists and engineers.
Both sides agreed to develop a framework covering technology transfer, joint research, investment and knowledge exchange.
