Jos to play host to NPFL Super 6

Nigeria’s four clubs representing the country in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions will converge in Jos next Monday for the 2026 NPFL Super 6 Pre-Season Championship.

CAF Champions League representatives Rangers International of Enugu and Rivers United of Port Harcourt, alongside CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Shooting Stars of Ibadan and El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, will be joined by hosts Plateau United and Mighty Jets for the week-long tournament.

The championship, which kicks off on Tuesday, August 18, is designed to sharpen the participating teams ahead of the new season, particularly the four clubs preparing for continental assignments.

Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, thanked Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for creating what he described as an enabling environment for sports to thrive in the state.

‘I must once again thank the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for giving Sports, especially our football, enabling and conducive environment to thrive with his unwavering support. We can’t thank him enough,’ Kwande said.

He added that hosting the NPFL Super 6 ‘further reinforces Plateau State’s growing reputation as a major football hub and destination for sporting excellence in Nigeria.’

Kwande also called on football supporters, youth organisations, sports enthusiasts and residents to attend the matches and support the participating clubs.

The competition is organised by the Plateau State Football Association in conjunction with the Plateau State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

It is also expected to provide Plateau United and Mighty Jets with valuable preparation for their own potential continental assignments next season.
