ADC poised to win Oyo in 2027 – Adegoke

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Olooye Gboyega Adegoke, on Monday said the party would leave no stone unturned to ensure that it wins the next governorship election in the state.

He also said he would ensure proper oversight of local governments in the state to make them deliver optimally at the grassroots.

Adegoke said this while inaugurating the Solutions Campaign Council for the election at the party’s campaign office in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

According to him, the party is approaching the next governorship election with the main objective of winning and would be ready to put in place the necessary machinery to aid its victory.

He said the ADC is a formidable party with structures across the 351 wards in the state, adding that the party was never a pushover in the quest for the Agodi Government House.

The governorship candidate explained that the campaign council, led by Hon. Tayo Kesha, is expected to work with various stakeholders at different levels, asking members to accommodate those necessary for the task ahead.

The Ibadan traditional chief also clarified the issues surrounding his candidacy, saying that he is the authentic governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State.

He also explained that efforts were underway to resolve the internal wrangling in the party, saying he had met with the leadership of the other faction led by Hon. Yinka Olona and expressing confidence that the reconciliation would be fruitful.

Speaking about some of his plans for the state if elected, Adegoke said he would wage a complete war against poverty among the people of the state through the implementation of various sustainable programmes.

He said sectors such as agriculture, education and industrialisation would be given adequate attention to create jobs for the teeming youth of the state.

He also spoke about plans to establish a solar farm in the Oke-Ogun area of the state to provide constant electricity and catalyse economic development in the area.

Adegoke, however, said he would embark on federal constituency thank-you visits to further spread the gospel of the ADC across the state.

The Director-General of the campaign council, however, said it would work with relevant stakeholders and executive committees at the local government level to achieve the objectives of the party.

He reiterated that the names of all candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries had been uploaded on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with Adegoke as the validly nominated candidate of the party in Oyo State.
