Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kawu Baraje, has predicted that PDP will win elections in Bauchi, Jigawa and other APC states in the 2027 general elections.
Baraje described governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as ‘tenants’ in the government houses, insisting that the ruling party had failed Nigerians and no longer deserved to remain in power.
He spoke with journalists at the Dutse International Airport while on his way to Azare, Bauchi State, where he led a delegation of PDP leaders on behalf of former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to commission a 500-seater Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre donated to the community by the PDP governorship candidate in the 2027 election, Adamu Usman Ahmed.
According to Baraje, most of the APC governors came to power because of the internal crisis that weakened the PDP in previous elections.
He, however, said the PDP had resolved its internal differences and was now prepared to return to power and provide what he described as effective leadership.
‘You see the APC people who are occupying the Government Houses today are tenants. In 2015, when the election went the way it went, we never believed in those results. Even in 2023, we never believed in the results of the elections.
‘But as peace-loving people, we accepted it because that was the desire of the people. But as you can see what is going on now, people are rejecting them totally and clamouring for the return of the PDP. So, it is some kind of revolution,’ he said.
Baraje commended the Bauchi PDP governorship hopeful for investing in ICT and youth development, saying the establishment of the centre demonstrated his commitment to preparing young people for present and future challenges.
He described the facility as a significant intervention that would provide students with a modern environment to sit for examinations and undertake other digital activities.
‘The commissioning of this gigantic ICT centre established by our illustrious member is an indication that he is prepared for both the present and the future because ICT speaks the language of the present and the future,’ Baraje said.
Speaking on the project, Ahmed said he embarked on the initiative to provide students in the area and the state with access to a modern CBT centre where they could conduct examinations conveniently and participate in other digital activities.
He described the facility as the first of its kind in the North-East to be established by an individual, adding that he would do more if elected governor of Bauchi State in 2027.
