THE Philippine Embassy in Helsinki held a public concert to celebrate Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (Philippine Music Week) 2026 at the Esplanade Park in the Finnish capital city.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Domingo P. Nolasco highlighted the important role of music in Filipino culture and identity. He noted that music is deeply ingrained in Filipino life, then introduced Original Pilipino Music (OPM) to the audience.
The event featured Filipino artists based in Finland who performed a selection of OPM songs spanning several decades, from classic to contemporary hits.
Held at the historic and popular Esplanade Park, the event brought Philippine music and culture to one of Helsinki’s most prominent public spaces. Filipino community members, as well as Finnish and multicultural audiences-including tourists in the nearby South Harbor and Market Square-attended the free concert.
It was also livestreamed on the embassy’s Facebook page, which allowed those unable to attend in person, particularly the families and friends of the performers in the Philippines, to join the celebration online.
The event is part of the Philippine Embassy’s cultural diplomacy program, which includes efforts to promote Filipino music and culture in Finland.
The embassy also extends its appreciation to the performers, members of the Filipino community, and all who contributed to the event’s success.
