The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) has mourned the demise of a member of its Board of Trustees (BoT), Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide.
The Olajide, who died on Tuesday, served as the Secretary to the Government of Oyo State (SSG) during the first tenure of, late Governor Abiola Ajimobi between 2011 and 2015.
In a condolence message by its national president, Mohammed Buari and national public relations officer (PRO), Fagbenro Ibraheem, the association described the deceased as ‘a highly valued member of the UNIFEMGA family.’
It added that the association would not only fondly remember Olajide’s wisdom, contributions, commitment, and dedicated service to UNIFEMGA but also will deeply cherish same.
‘It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) mourns the passing of a member of her Board of Trustees (BOT), Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, who returned to his Creator on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
‘Alhaji Abdul Waheed Olajide was a highly valued member of the UNIFEMGA family, whose wisdom, contributions, commitment, and dedicated service to the Association, will remain fondly remembered and deeply cherished. His passing is an immense loss to his immediate family, the association, and the wider community.
‘On behalf of the National Executive Council, Board of Trustees, and the entire UNIFEMGA family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, relatives, friends, colleagues, and all those who mourn his passing.
‘The association then prayed Allah to forgive his sins, accept his righteousness and admit him into Jannatul Furdaus.
‘We beseech Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, pardon his sins, accept his righteous deeds, illuminate his grave, and grant him peace and tranquillity therein. May He admit him into Jannatul Firdaus and grant him entry without reckoning.’
‘May Allah (SWT) grant his family, loved ones, colleagues, friends, and the entire UNIFEMGA family Sabr (patience), strength, and comfort during this difficult period, and may He grant everyone who mourns his departure the fortitude to bear the loss,’ the association prayed.
The late Alhaji Olajide was buried on Wednesday in accordance with Islamic rites.
