Kiko Barzaga’s mother wins Cavite 4th district congressional seat

The mother of expelled lawmaker Kiko Barzaga has won the special election for Cavite’s 4th District held on Saturday, August 29.

Jennifer Austria-Barzaga garnered 201,893 votes, with voter turnout at 57.75%, according to Commission on Elections Chairman George Garcia.

The other candidates and their vote totals were:

Raul Rex Mangubat: 30,373

Jacinto Frani Jr.: 24,350

Marvin Dupal-Ag: 1,184

Leysander Ordenes: 561

Barzaga is the incumbent mayor of Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

She replaces her son, Kiko Barzaga, who was expelled from the House of Representatives on June 2, 2026.

The House expelled Barzaga for disorderly behavior and conduct unbecoming of a member following findings that he repeatedly disrupted plenary proceedings and violated House rules and ethical standards.
