MTN Nigeria has launched a new broadband solution, FlyX, aimed at expanding internet access to homes and small businesses through a range of Outdoor Units (ODUs).
The telecommunications company announced the product on Monday, in Lagos, saying it is built around ODUs with an indoor component, powered by its 4G and 5G network capabilities.
According to the company, the units are designed to capture stronger signals in areas where indoor reception is weak and fibre infrastructure is not yet available, extending high-speed internet to more locations.
MTN said the offering was in response to growing demand for consistent connectivity among households, entrepreneurs and remote workers as Nigeria’s digital economy expands. The company described FlyX as a plug-and-play solution requiring minimal installation, allowing users to get connected quickly for streaming, remote work and everyday digital activities.
MTN Nigeria’s Chief Broadband Officer, Egerton Idehen, said the company’s focus was on building solutions that respond to real connectivity challenges.
‘FlyX is an example of how we are using our network strength to rethink broadband delivery, making it faster to deploy, easier to access, and more responsive to the needs of Nigerians,’ he said.
He added that the solution would allow the company to bridge critical gaps, particularly in areas without fibre, while still delivering the speed and reliability required for modern digital lifestyles.
MTN said the FlyX portfolio supported use cases ranging from streaming and gaming to remote work and business operations, with scalable options tailored to different needs. It said the addition of ODUs further improves signal reception and stability.
The initiative, the company said, was part of its broader strategy to deepen broadband penetration and drive digital inclusion across the country. The outdoor units, the company said, were available nationwide at authorised MTN stores or via flyx.mtn.ng.
