President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Bello Sulaiman, describing him as a stabilising figure who showed courage in leading his people through severe security challenges.
The monarch, who ascended the throne five years ago, died on Monday.
In a condolence message yesterday, Tinubu said the Emir led the Zurmi Emirate with wisdom, dignity and commitment during one of the most challenging periods in its history.
A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu extended condolences to the Emir’s family, the Zurmi Emirate Council, the Zamfara State Government and the traditional institution across Nigeria.
The President commended Sulaiman’s role in guiding the emirate through insecurity while promoting peace, unity and resilience.
‘His Royal Highness was a stabilising figure whose wise counsel and dedication to peace-building were invaluable not only to Zurmi Emirate but to Zamfara State and our nation’s efforts to restore lasting peace in the North-West,’ Tinubu said.
He prayed that Allah forgive the monarch’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and asked for comfort for his family and subjects.
