Barau unveils Kano North APC Campaign Council, orders grassroots mobilisation ahead of 2027

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, has activated the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign machinery in Kano North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, directing party leaders to begin house-to-house mobilisation across the zone.

Barau, who represents Kano North in the Senate, unveiled the zonal campaign council on Saturday, with Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government, appointed as chairman.

The development marks an early attempt by the APC to establish a coordinated grassroots campaign structure across the 13 local government areas that make up the senatorial district ahead of the elections scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for January 16, 2027.

Nadu Yahaya, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and former Surveyor General of the Federation, will serve as secretary, while Ali Haruna Makoda, Kano State Commissioner of Education, was named deputy chairman.

Kabiru Ado Zakirai, Ahmed Haruna Bichi and Idris Unguwar Rimi will serve as Deputy Secretaries I, II and III respectively.

Farouk Lawan, a former member of the House of Representatives, Saidu Garba Getso and Badamasi Ayuba were appointed Vice Chairmen I, II and III respectively.

Yusuf Tumfafi, described as a veteran grassroots mobiliser, will serve as Director-General, with Yusuf Yusuf Tabuka, Auwalu Ibrahim Danzabuwa, Ali Ado Bagwai and Ali Gumawa appointed Deputy Directors-General I, II, III and IV respectively.

The campaign structure also provides for dedicated committees in each of the 13 local government areas in Kano North, with serving local government chairmen designated as chairmen and other party leaders appointed as co-chairmen.
