Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, said his security plans to make the state safer would be unveiled in the next one month.
Okpebholo said the measures being put in place would enable security agencies to respond to threats within five minutes across the state.
Okpebholo spoke at a service yesterday at the Living Faith Church (a.k.a Winners Chapel) in Benin City.
The governor said his dedicated emergency numbers would soon be made available to the public, even as he urged residents in distress to use the numbers to seek immediate security assistance.
‘We will continue to work for Edo people. In terms of security, Edo will be safer in the next one month. We will be able to respond to security threats in any part of the state.
‘My administration’s goal is to make Edo safer than it found it by tackling kidnapping, robbery and other criminal activities.
Pastor of the church, Emmanuel Ebiye, commended the governor for what he described as his developmental agenda and efforts to improve the state.
Pastor Ebiye said: ‘We appreciate your transformation, development and growth experience across all sectors in the state. I pray for grace to be with you. Thank you for all you are doing for Edo people.”
At the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, the governor informed the congregation that the procurement process for the construction of roads in the vicinity was almost completed.
He assured that contractors were expected to work through the rainy season to accelerate completion.
He urged residents to pray for President Bola Tinubu over the removal of fuel subsidy, which he linked to improved road infrastructure across the country.
General Overseer of the church, Pastor Charles Osazuwa, said the country would remain united after next year’s general election.
Osazuwa urged Nigerians not to listen to what he described as prophecies of doom about the country, saying elections would come and go without disrupting the nation’s continuity.
