Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed confidence that Nigeria will become stronger and fairer under President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the next four years.
Soludo spoke on Thursday while addressing a large crowd at the Alex Ekwueme Square during the flag-off of his wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo’s Statewide Empowerment Programme.
The empowerment programme provided 5,000 beneficiaries across Anambra’s 21 Local Government Areas with business grants, vocational tools and equipment for agriculture, agro-processing, beauty care and small-scale enterprises.
The governor said that despite the difficult economic situation inherited by the Tinubu administration, the country’s future remained bright.
He said, ‘Today is not a day to elaborate on President Tinubu’s accomplishments for humanity, especially in the area of macroeconomics, infrastructure restructuring, insecurity and human capital.
‘Its impact on the Anambra people is evident. For those who complain now, let me assure you that I see hope with the Renewed Hope agenda.
‘Most people didn’t know the state of the economy inherited by President Bola Tinubu and the absolute necessity of the emergency surgical operation required.
‘A cancer patient will obviously feel the pains of surgery, but the patient is guaranteed not to die of the cancer.
‘The future is brighter. I’m convinced that the next four years of President Tinubu will most probably and certainly see a stronger and fairer Nigeria.’
Soludo also called for greater cooperation among progressive political forces in the country, saying such collaboration was necessary to achieve shared and sustainable prosperity.
‘In Anambra, progressives are working together. This is not just a slogan; it’s a statement of truth,’ he said.
The governor noted that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), founded in 2002, predated the All Progressives Congress (APC), which was formed about 12 years later.
He said, ‘Even in APC, there’s part of APGA DNA. That’s why we say APGA is Anambra and Anambra is APGA. But progressives in Nigeria have no choice but to work together for Nigeria’s greatness.’
Soludo said APGA, the Federal Government, and the APC were partnering to advance national development.
‘So far, ours is a partnership that works-a partnership with APGA and the federal government and APC,’ he said.
He added that his wife’s support for the First Lady’s empowerment programmes demonstrated the cooperation among progressive political forces.
‘At the federal level, the APGA legislators are working with the APC caucus to advance our national agenda,’ Soludo said.
He said the state government was working to bring federal reforms to the grassroots and ensure their benefits reached more Nigerians.
‘We are working very hard to cascade federal reforms down to the grassroots in order to impact the people. We’re determined to build a future that ensures that nobody is left behind,’ he said.
