The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State is ready for the 2027 elections, Governor Dapo Abiodun declared yesterday, as the party intensified its grassroots mobilisation with a mega rally for its governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), in Ijebu-Ode.
APC supporters and members of Caucus 7202 from the 20 local government areas converged on the Dipo Dina International Stadium for the rally, signalling their readiness for the 2027 polls.
Abiodun, said the turnout demonstrated the APC’s strength, unity and deep grassroots structure across the state.
He urged party members to take the APC’s achievements and message to every ward and community, insisting that the party is well positioned to retain power in 2027.
The governor also expressed confidence in Adeola, describing his experience and public service record as assets that would enable him to provide effective leadership for the state.
Abiodun said Ogun would deliver two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the presidential election.
Adeola promised to build on Abiodun’s achievements if elected, describing the governor as a ‘silent achiever’ whose seven years in office had laid a solid foundation for development.
The APC candidate also dismissed reports of any working arrangement between him and opposition parties ahead of the election.
He urged party members to remain vigilant and reject what he described as overtures from opposition elements, insisting that the APC has the structure and organisation to retain power in Ogun.
Adeola thanked support groups, particularly Caucus 7202, for backing his governorship ambition and urged them to expand their mobilisation across the state.
He said the group’s membership was particularly significant because more than 90 per cent of its members were not affiliated with any political party.
The APC chairman in Ogun, Chief Yemi Sanusi, charged members to move beyond rallies and take the party’s manifesto, programmes and achievements to the grassroots.
Director-General of Caucus 7202, Moctar Koiki, said the group had about 180,000 members across Ogun’s 20 local government areas, with over 90 per cent described as non-partisan, who have vowed to deliver both Tinubu and Adeola in 2027.
