Tech giant Google has officially launched Google Pics, a new platform enabling users to generate and edit images with granular AI precision directly within Google Workspace applications such as Slides, Docs and Drive.
Powered by the Nano Banana model, Google Pics creates highly detailed and realistic imagery, making it an ideal tool for generating posters, infographics, promotional materials, and custom illustrations.
The tool is accessible as a standalone web application and integrates seamlessly into Google Workspace. This setup allows users to edit project images directly within Slides, Docs and Drive without the hassle of switching between different windows.
Unlike standard image generation tools, Google Pics stands out by allowing targeted, region-specific edits via prompts. Users can also modify existing images rather than starting from scratch or re-generating the entire graphic.
Key capabilities include simultaneous local edits that alter the shape or characteristics of multiple specific objects in a single image, as well as multi-option generation from a single prompt, offering users various alternatives tailored to their project needs.
The platform also features direct in-image text translation and editing, which preserves the original text styling and surrounding visual elements without altering the rest of the image.
Collaborative features allow real-time co-editing, enabling multiple team members to work together on image adjustments through the Google Workspace ecosystem.
Google Pics is currently available for users on Google Slides and Google Docs, with integration for Google Drive expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
Access to the new service is available to subscribers of Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra, Google Workspace Business, and Google Workspace Enterprise plans.
