Aljazirah honours Tinubu, Tunji-Ojo, Ojulari, six governors

President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited Bashir Ojulari, and six state governors have been named among the recipients of the 2025 Aljazirah Personality of the Year Awards.

Organised by AljazirahNigeria/London Newspapers, the awards recognise individuals for their contributions to leadership, public service, entrepreneurship and national development.

According to a statement by the Chairman of the Awards Committee, Ibrahim Abubakar, the 2025 edition aims to recognise individuals whose achievements have impacted their respective fields.

Tunji-Ojo was named Minister of the Year for his reforms at the Ministry of Interior, particularly in passport processing, border surveillance, identity verification and correctional administration.

Seyi Tinubu was named Distinguished Humanitarian Service/Entrepreneur of the Year for his youth-focused humanitarian initiatives, including educational support, community outreach and empowerment programmes.

The Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, was recognised as Government Agency/Public Servant of the Year for his contribution to the development of Nigeria’s raw materials sector.

Ojulari was named Africa’s CEO of the Year for his leadership of NNPCL, with the organisers citing his efforts to restore joint-venture operations, advance deep-water projects and promote Nigeria’s gas development agenda.

The recognised governors include Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State.

The organisers said they selected the governors for their efforts in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, human capital development and institutional reforms.

The awards ceremony is expected to bring together public officials, business leaders and other stakeholders to celebrate the recipients.
