The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Zamfara State command has arrested a 58-year-old suspect who spend 20 years dealing with illegal cannabis in the state.
The command also arrested 9 others for vandalisation and theft of government infrastructure in the state.
Parading the suspects on Monday at the NSCDC headquarters in Gusau, Commandant sani Mustafa through the command public relations officer ASCI Umar Mohammed said both the suspects were apprehended In accordance with statutory mandate of the Corps.
‘The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the inspired and visionary leadership of the Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR, the Corps is committed to ensure prompt access to civil centred justice.
‘In accordance with statutory mandate of the Corps, the Zamfara state command, under the supervision and adept headship of commandant Sani Mustapha, the command is steadfast and committed to reducing elements of criminality.
According to him, the proactive structures are established to efficiently manage these activities of vandalism, unlawful sales of substances, off-balance activities and economic outputs of the state.
He said Alh. Haruna Amadu, 55 years old, of Tsageru village, Tsafe was apprehended on the 8th September, 2026 at about 1500hours (03:00pm) who revealed eight (8) other accomplices in the suspected act of vandalism, mischief and theft of government infrastructure.
The nine (9) listed suspects confessed to being perpetrators; they conspired to remove the roofing and attempted to bribe the village heads.
Also,the suspect, Mr. Emmanuel Okonkwo ‘M’ 58years was apprehended in Birnin Magaji LGA through the Corps’ Divisional Office on the 10th September, 2026 at about 2330hours (11:30pm).
‘Through his confession to the department of Intelligence the suspect Mr. Emmanuel Okonkwo stated there are two of his accomplices, Yellow and Sadiq (at large).
‘He further stated that he do his business in Birnin Magaji for over 20years in a chemist, and confessed to conspiring with Yellow and Sadiq to sell hard substances, such as Cannabis (Weed, Marijuana), Exol 5, Tramadol and Diazepam D10 tabs in the state.
