Man Sentenced For Stealing Tripod Jack

A Senior Magistrate Court II, Life Camp, Abuja, has sentenced a 30-year-old man, Isaiah Lortim, for stealing a tripod jack valued at N350,000 at Harmony Plaza, Jabi, Abuja.

Lortim was also ordered to pay N250,000 as compensation for the goods he admitted to stealing and selling.

The case was brought before the Senior Magistrate Court II, Life Camp, Abuja, following a report by the complainant over the theft of the tripod jack.

According to the police report, Lortim returned to the plaza on September 5, 2026, at about 1:20pm, where he was apprehended.

The police said during investigation, the suspect initially denied stealing the tripod jack or visiting the plaza.

However, he reportedly changed his position after he was shown CCTV footage capturing him at the premises, following which he admitted to the offence.

The police said the offence was punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Fatima Buka sentenced Lortim to 10 days’ in a correctional centre and ordered him to pay N250,000 as compensation for the items he admitted to stealing and selling.

She said the punishment would serve as a deterrent to others who might engage in similar offences.
