The Rotary Club of Kosofe Golden has honoured the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, with honorary membership in recognition of his contributions to public service and leadership.
The honour was conferred on Opeifa when members of the club paid a courtesy visit to the NRC headquarters in Lagos as part of activities marking their humanitarian intervention at the Corporation’s hospital in Yaba.
The club also donated 12 sets of branded bedsheets, pillowcases and mosquito nets to the Nigerian Railway Corporation Hospital under Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Service Area.
Speaking during the visit, the club acknowledged Opeifa’s contributions to Nigeria’s public and private sectors as well as what it described as his enduring impact in organisations where he had served.
The Rotary delegation, led by the club’s President, Rtn. (Engr.) Olanrewaju Longe, also commended the NRC management for the warm reception accorded its members and expressed appreciation for the cooperation extended to the club.
The donation is expected to support patient care and improve comfort for beneficiaries of healthcare services at the railway hospital.
Other members of the delegation were Rtn. (Dr.) Hope Iloka, Rtn. Adedayo Adejumobi, Rtn. Shittu Adesoji, Rtn. Johnson Olatunji, Rtn. Adebukola and Rtn. Onommie.
The intervention forms part of Rotary’s commitment to maternal and child health and other community-based humanitarian programmes.
