Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 57-year-old man, Kadiri Edenokun, over the alleged sexual molestation of his six-year-old stepdaughter in Ayua community, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The incident allegedly occurred on August 26, 2026, at the suspect’s residence while the girl’s mother, Edenokun’s wife, was away from home.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspect was arrested on September 10 following a report of the incident.
She said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases to the police.
However, Edenokun, in an interview, denied defiling the child, saying he only rubbed the surface of her genital area twice on different days.
‘I rubbed her body two consecutive times but on different days,’ he said.
The suspect pleaded for forgiveness, saying he could not explain what led to the act.
