About 150 residents of Irrua-Usugbenu community in Esan Central local government area of Edo State received free correctional eye care services by Premier Plantations Limited, a subsidiary of Nosak Group.
The free eye care services were conducted under the second edition of Premier Plantations’s three-day Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, in collaboration with the African Cataract and Eye Foundation.
The initiative featured over 25 free cataract surgeries, helping beneficiaries regain their sight and improve quality of life for host community members.
In addition, free reading glasses were distributed to individuals with visual impairments, while community members received a range of eye care consultations and treatments.
As part of the broader health intervention, children also received free deworming medication. ‘This initiative is designed to improve the quality of life of people within our host communities by restoring sight through free cataract surgeries and the provision of reading glasses,’ Boniface Iyengunmwena, project manager, Premier Plantations Limited, said.
According to him, the company is leveraging the CSR initiative to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable community development and creating lasting social impact within its host communities.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of its host communities through impactful healthcare and development initiatives.
‘Through our partnership with the African Cataract and Eye Foundation, we are contributing to the prevention of avoidable blindness and other eye-related conditions, while bringing hope and renewed confidence to beneficiaries,’ Iyengunmwena said.
