Pelumi Olajengbesi, Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, says President Bola Tinubu is on track to garner over a million votes in Osun State in the forthcoming presidential election next January.
Olajengbesi said this on Saturday after meeting the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
The lawyer and spokesman for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign said that, with reconciliation achieved in Osun State after the governorship election, the President is on track to secure over a million votes.
Olajengbesi said, ‘With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear: to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election.’
Olajengbesi also appreciated the younger Tinubu for his encouragement, push and support for youth representation in governance over the years, ‘as well as your fair position during the Osun State governorship election’.
Olajengbesi said, ‘Perhaps one of the most consequential bets young Nigerians have had around this administration is Seyi Tinubu.
‘He has consistently chosen to engage with young people, strengthen the negotiating power of our generation, support aspirations, open doors, build relationships and invest in possibilities.’
Recall that Governor Adeleke of the Accord Party won the August poll with 511,067 votes, whilst Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress polled 444,815 votes, while Najeem Salam of the African Democratic Congress scored 17,180 votes.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Osun State has over 2.3 million registered voters, with 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards collected.
Shortly after INEC declared him the winner, Adeleke reiterated his support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
