The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has accompanied the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III.
Kwankwaso disclosed this in a Facebook post following the delegation’s arrival in Sokoto.
He said the visit provided an opportunity for the NDC presidential and vice-presidential candidates to meet with the Sultan and expressed appreciation for the monarch’s reception.
‘Upon our arrival in Sokoto today, I had the honour of accompanying our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, on a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Royal Eminence Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, CFR,’ Kwankwaso stated.
He described the Sultan’s reception as warm and commended his leadership and hospitality.
‘We are deeply grateful to His Eminence for his warm reception, exemplary leadership, and gracious hospitality,’ he added.
The visit comes as political parties and their candidates intensify engagements with traditional institutions and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
