Former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Council, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, Balogun of Agege, has mourned the passing of prominent Mushin community leader, Chief Alhaji Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado of Mushin.
Baba Alado, who was the Olori Ebi of Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao and Babaloja of Aswani International Market, died in the early hours of Saturday, 26th September, 2026 at the age of 83.
In a condolence message personally signed by him on Sunday in Lagos, Agbede described the late grassroots mobilizer’s death as a monumental loss to Mushin, Lagos State and the entire transport union family.
Agbede said during his tenure as Lagos NURTW Chairman, Baba Alado was a formidable force for peace and stability, especially in the Mushin axis which remains strategic to union activities.
‘At moments when tension arose, Baba Alado’s timely intervention, fatherly counsel and authoritative voice helped us maintain peace and brotherhood among members. He was not a distant leader. He was a constant, regular and respected face at every major union activity and event organized under my chairmanship,’ Agbede stated.
The former Lagos NURTW boss noted that the deceased was a bridge-builder who believed in dialogue over crisis and contributed immensely to promoting harmony among transport unions, market traders, youth groups and traditional leaders in Mushin.
‘He was a good adviser, a detribalized leader and a devout Muslim who touched many lives. His wisdom, calm disposition and steadfast commitment to the progress of Mushin and Lagos State will be long remembered,’ he added.
Agbede, on behalf of his family and loyal members who served with him, extended condolences to the wives and children of the deceased, the Alagbeji Royal Family, the Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon.
