The House of Representatives candidate for Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, Lagos State has promised to pay the elderly a monthly stipend the elderly, as well empower the youth and people living with disabilities if elected.
Ibeh, an aspirant under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), made the pledge at the weekend during a town hall meeting with constituents He said his objective to contest is driven by a desire to give back to the people and ensure effective representation.
The candidate assured constituents that his promises would be binding, urging them to protect their votes during the election.
‘My promises here are the bond between you and you and I will never disappoint you. I understand that people vote for individuals, not parties when casting their votes and I solicit your votes now. Make sure that you protect your votes because we will build this community together,’ he stated.
He unveiled his plan for youth empowerment, tagged ‘One youth-two skills’, promising to equip young people with vocational skills and sponsor laws that would empower residents of the constituency.
‘I will teach the youths how to fish and empower them with a plan for ‘One youth-two skills’. It is not rocket science to change the community.
I will sponsor laws that will empower the people here. I am bringing light to Amuwo Odofin because we have suffered enough here. My impact will be seen as quickly as possible,’ he said.
Ibeh challenged the constituents to hold him accountable, saying he should be shown the exit if his performance is rated below expectation.
‘If I go to Abuja to represent you and you score me 5/10, show me the way out. Because all I target is to represent you with a score card of 10/10. My scorecard will speak for me because I want to give back to my people who have shown love to me,’ he said.
Ibeh promised road rehabilitation and improved healthcare delivery, including upgrading primary healthcare centres, provision of modern medical equipment, support for medical outreaches and improved maternal and child healthcare.
On agriculture, education and small businesses, Ibeh promised to train and empower farmers in fisheries, livestock, poultry, crop production and agro-processing, renovate dilapidated schools, digitalise school libraries, provide ICT facilities, teacher capacity development, scholarship and bursary awards for pupils, and support Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) and vocational skills.
‘I will also support scholarship and bursary awards to our students, as well as lend hands of support to people living with disabilities and the elderly,’ he said.
The Director-General, TKC Campaign Organisation,Ololade Johnson, expressed confidence in Ibeh’s victory, saying Amuwo Odofin would experience a new phase of representation with him at the Green Chamber.
