The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has reinstated Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru as its state chairman, three months after his suspension from office.
The party announced the decision on Thursday at its state secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, following a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC).
The State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Assalafi, disclosed this while briefing journalists, stating that the SWC reviewed the circumstances surrounding Kana-Zuru’s suspension and resolved to revoke it immediately.
Kana-Zuru was suspended on June 20, 2026, following Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026 adopted by the SWC.
According to a new resolution adopted at the SWC meeting on October 1, 2026, the committee revoked the suspension.
The resolution stated, ‘That the suspension of Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru from the office of State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kebbi State, pursuant to Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026 dated 20th June 2026, is hereby revoked with immediate effect.’
Following the decision, Kana-Zuru is to resume the full functions, powers, duties and responsibilities of the office of State Chairman.
The SWC also terminated the interim arrangement under which Deputy State Chairman Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie had been serving as acting chairman.
‘Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman,’ Assalafi said.
He added that all official records, documents, correspondence and instruments relating to the office of state chairman were to be handed over to Kana-Zuru forthwith.
The SWC also directed the state secretary to communicate the resolution to the party’s national headquarters and other relevant organs for information, record and necessary action in accordance with the APC Constitution.
Assalafi said the resolution took effect immediately upon adoption, adding that it reflected the authority of the party’s duly constituted organs to review their decisions in line with its constitution and established procedures.
He urged party organs, officials, members and stakeholders to recognise the resolution as Kana-Zuru resumes his responsibilities as state chairman.
