Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged graduates of the second cohort of the Public Service Accelerator Programme to return to their respective offices and drive innovation, excellence and improved service delivery.
Sanwo-Olu delivered the charge at the programme’s graduation ceremony, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training.
The Governor said the initiative was designed to build a pool of highly skilled, motivated and innovative public officers capable of transforming the Lagos State Public Service.
He urged the 100 graduates to regard completion of the programme as the start of greater responsibility, stressing that their success would be measured by the improvements they introduced in their respective ministries, departments and agencies.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration would continue to invest in human capital development, noting that technology, innovation and problem-solving approaches were essential to building a professional and responsive public service capable of meeting the needs of Lagos residents.
Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, said the programme demonstrated the state government’s commitment to developing a new generation of public servants equipped with leadership skills and practical solutions to emerging challenges.
The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, said the programme was designed to identify high-potential officers and develop them into a talent pool capable of providing innovative solutions to challenges confronting the public service.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Establishments, Oluwatoyin Atanda, said the 100 participants were selected from about 3,000 applicants through a rigorous process of assessments and interviews.
She added that the initiative was also designed to build a leadership pipeline for the future of the Lagos State Public Service.
