African Beach Soccer Union president Mahmud Hadejia says the Nigeria Football Federation has begun putting training programmes in place for the Sand Eagles ahead of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
‘Preparations have intensified,’ Hadejia said, pointing to work intended to help the players and technical crew build fitness and understanding before competitive matches begin. Kaduna is expected to play a part in the team’s preparations.
Nigeria have won the continental beach soccer title twice, but their past success alone will not secure a return to the finals. The immediate task is to assemble and prepare a squad capable of navigating the qualifiers.
Domestic competitions could also give the coaches an opportunity to assess players as the Sand Eagles seek to re-establish themselves in African beach soccer.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s beach soccer national team (Super Sand Eagles) will face current and record African champions, Senegal in a two-legged friendly match ahead of 2026 BSAFCON Qualifiers against Ghana.
Billed to hold on October 3 (First Leg), October 5 (return leg), the two matches will take place at the Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Soccer Arena, Kaduna,
