Team Philippines’ Amaya Cojuangco delivered the silver medal in the archery women’s compound individual event at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, falling to Indonesia’s Nurisa Dian Ashrifah, 139-137, at Ozakaki Chuo Sogo Park.
Cojuangco pushed Ashrifah to the limit, but the Indonesian hit a 10 with her final arrow to clinch her country’s first Asian Games gold in archery.
It capped a strong run for Cojuangco, who also upset No. 66-ranked Park Jungyoon of South Korea, 142-141, in the semifinals after beating Iran’s Bita Asheghzadeh Oskouei, 146-135, in the quarterfinals.
Cojuangco’s silver ended the Philippines’ 12-year Asian Games medal drought in archery. The country’s previous medal came from Paul Dela Cruz, who won bronze in the men’s individual compound event at the 2014 Incheon Games.
The 40-year-old veteran campaigner for the Philippines added to the country’s silver medal haul, which now stands at four.
Cojuangco beat Wei Fangyao of China and Le Pham Ngoc Anh of Vietnam on Monday to advance to the quarterfinal.
