Manila logs 38 new dengue cases, bringing total to 3,555

Dengue remained the most frequently reported among the diseases monitored in Manila, with 38 new cases recorded on Monday, bringing the city’s year-to-date total to 3,555, according to the latest W.I.L.D. (water-borne diseases, influenza, leptospirosis, and dengue) diseases report of the Manila Health Department (MHD).

The report, which covers water-borne diseases, influenza, leptospirosis, and dengue, also recorded 23 new influenza-like illness (ILI) cases, five new severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases, and five new leptospirosis cases.

No new cases of cholera, typhoid fever or confirmed COVID-19 were recorded on the same day.

The report was based on data extracted from the Electronic Disease Case Surveillance and Information System (EDCS-IS) as of 7 a.m. on Oct. 5.

From Jan. 1 to Oct. 5, the MHD had recorded 3,555 dengue cases, 2,100 ILI cases, 1,612 leptospirosis cases and 478 SARI cases.

The city also logged 82 typhoid fever cases, 100 confirmed COVID-19 cases and four cholera cases during the same period.

The MHD said it continued to monitor W.I.L.D. diseases, particularly as illnesses may spread during the rainy season.

‘Patuloy ang pagbabantay sa mga sakit na maaaring lumaganap lalo na ngayong tag-ulan [Monitoring continues for diseases that may spread, especially during the rainy season],’ it said in a statement.

The health department urged residents to remain cautious as the city continues monitoring the diseases.
