The Federal Government has granted Swift Telephone Network Limited, STN, a licence to provide telecommunications services across Nigeria.
The company received a Unified Access Service Licence, UASL, from the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, giving it the regulatory approval to operate in the country’s telecommunications sector.
The licence allows STN to provide telecom services across Nigeria as it prepares to begin full operations.
STN said it is now working towards the rollout of its services and will compete with existing operators in the Nigerian telecoms market.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Oluwole Adetuyi, said the licence marked a new chapter for STN and would allow the company to expand its operations.
He said STN plans to invest in infrastructure, develop Nigerian talent and work with local and international technology partners.
Adetuyi added that the company would also focus on extending telecom services to underserved communities and helping to improve digital inclusion.
STN has already confirmed its telephone number ranges, including numbers beginning with 0201 343 to 0201 348 and 0201 710 to 0201 715.
However, the company has yet to announce a specific date for its nationwide commercial launch, pricing plans or detailed coverage map.
With the licence, STN is set to join Nigeria’s growing telecommunications market and compete with established operators.
