WayvePay, the digital banking platform of Wayve Microfinance Bank, has surpassed 100,000 customers, marking a major milestone in its drive to make banking, payments and financial services more accessible to Nigerians.
The milestone comes shortly after the platform transitioned from Bankit to WayvePay on September 18, 2026, under the new positioning, ‘WayvePay – Banking and Beyond.’ The transition goes beyond a change of name and identity, with the platform expanding its technology, functionality and range of financial services.
WayvePay enables customers to open accounts digitally, transfer funds, make payments, pay bills, save, use debit cards and access business banking services through its digital platform.
The platform also offers biometric authentication, real-time transaction notifications, QR payments and digital transfers. Customers can access essential banking services through its dedicated USSD channel, providing an alternative for those with limited internet access or a preference for USSD banking.
WayvePay is also expanding its savings proposition with products designed to encourage consistent saving and help customers manage their finances more effectively.
Additional financial solutions are being developed to provide users with more options to manage, grow and access their money.
For entrepreneurs and small businesses, Wayve Business extends the platform into business banking, offering services covering payments, transfers, savings, cards and other financial needs.
The company is also investing in customer experience and technology. New features include multiple app themes, in-app banners and notifications aimed at creating a more personalised user experience.
AI-powered customer support is being deployed to handle common banking enquiries, onboarding challenges and routine transaction issues, with more complex cases referred to authorised support personnel.
The platform is also deploying AI-enhanced security and intelligent transaction monitoring to identify unusual transaction patterns and potentially suspicious activities, complementing existing security measures.
Speaking on the milestone, Kingsley Ezenwa, Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing, said the achievement represented both progress and an opportunity for further growth.
‘Crossing 100,000 customers is an important milestone for WayvePay, but we see it as the beginning rather than the destination,’ Ezenwa said.
‘Our ambition is to build a financial platform that becomes part of how Nigerians move, save, spend, grow and manage their money every day.’
He said the ‘Banking and Beyond’ proposition reflects the platform’s effort to bring payments, transfers, savings, cards, business banking, USSD access and personalised technology together in one ecosystem.
WayvePay has also expanded into investment opportunities, including access to the Dangote Refinery share offer through its platform, allowing eligible Nigerians to participate in the ownership of one of the country’s major industrial projects.
The company said it will continue investing in technology, payments, savings, financial security, customer experience and new financial products as it pursues its next phase of growth.
With more than 100,000 customers, WayvePay is positioning its next phase around deeper customer engagement, broader financial services and greater value for individuals and businesses.
