Designers showcase Thai silk

Designers from more than 100 countries are showcasing creations made with Thai silk in Bangkok as Thailand hosts the 2026 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Thai Silk and Culture Promotion Association launched the Amazing Thailand Global Thai Silk Exhibition on Monday, bringing together contemporary fashion inspired by the cultural identities of participating countries.

The exhibition runs until Oct 18 at Siam Paragon, with its opening ceremony scheduled for today. The collection is also on display in the Thai Pavilion zone on the first and third floors of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, where the annual meetings are being held.

Association founder Edward Kitti said the meetings provided an opportunity to introduce Thai culture, traditions and silk to more than 15,000 participants from 191 countries, as well as international media.

Traditional Thai outfits are also on display at The Khon Learning Centre and the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.

The displays include works by Tirapan Wannarat, the 2019 National Artist in fashion design, and Sudsakorn Chaisem, the 2023 National Artist in fine art and props.
