Myrsini Aristidou’s “Hold Onto Me” in the shortlist for 2027 European Film Awards

The Cypriot film “Hold Onto Me,” directed by Myrsini Aristidou, has been selected for the official shortlist of the 2027 European Film Awards-one of the most significant institutions for recognising European cinema.

A press release issued on Thursday said that “this major development marks yet another milestone for the film and for Cypriot cinema, highlighting the creative potential and international reach of Cypriot filmmakers.”

“Having already distinguished itself on the international film stage-most notably by winning the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival-‘Hold Onto Me’ adds yet another significant accolade to its journey,” the press release added.

It also noted that the film has been selected as Cyprus’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards (Oscars), further strengthening its international presence.

Inclusion in the European Film Awards shortlist marks the beginning of the next phase of the process, during which members of the European Film Academy will watch the selected films and vote to determine the official nominations.

The nominations for the 2027 European Film Awards will be announced on November 14, 2026.
