The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices increased by 5.2% in September 2026 compared with September 2025, according to data published by the Statistical Services on Friday.
Compared with September 2025, the categories Transport (13.3%), Restaurants and Accommodation Services (11.2%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels (9.5%) recorded the largest increases.
The largest drops were observed in the categories Clothing and Footwear (-10.4%) and Information and Communication (-0.9%).
Compared to August 2026, HICP decreased by 0.4%. The largest increases were recorded in the categories Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels (3.3%), Educational Services (1.5%) and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (1.3%), while the biggest decreases were recorded in Restaurants and Accommodation Services (-3.3%) and Transport (-2%).
The largest change among the economic categories, both compared with September 2025 and August 2026, was observed in the category Energy (20.2% and 5% respectively).
For the period January – September 2026, the HICP recorded an increase of 3,2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
