The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has congratulated Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi after he became the joint second-most-capped African player in Premier League history, drawing level with Egypt’s Mohamed Salah.

Iwobi reached the milestone on Saturday during Fulham’s 1-0 win over Coventry City, taking his Premier League appearances to 328.
The 30-year-old Nigerian ball passer is now 25 appearances short of the record held by former Ivory Coast international Kolo Touré, who made 353 appearances in the competition.
Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, NFF’s acting general secretary, congratulated Iwobi on the achievement and expressed hope that the midfielder would go on to set a new record.
‘The NFF celebrates Alex Iwobi for this new achievement, and we wish him even greater glory. We will be very happy to see him become the African with the most appearances in the Premier League in the near future,’ Ikpeme said.
Iwobi, who celebrated his 100th cap for Nigeria during a friendly against Portugal this summer at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria, has also won one silver and two bronze medals with the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations.
