Security Agents Kill ISWAP Commander, 15 Others In Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed a high-ranking terrorist commander, Abu Zubiru, alongside 15 other insurgents.

According to a statement released on Monday by the spokesman for Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, the terrorists were neutralised during a series of coordinated air and artillery strikes targeting three suspected insurgent enclaves in the Tunbunma area of South Lake Chad.

Goni said the precise military operation was executed between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on October 26, 2026.

The strikes were launched following actionable intelligence regarding the convergence of key terrorist leaders and fighters in the region.

He said a subsequent battle damage assessment (BDA) confirmed the deaths of 16 fighters. Among the casualties, alongside Abu Zubiru, were two of his close associates identified as Baana Nglewa and Jindullah Sadiq.

The operation also reported that Abu Saleem, whom intelligence identified as the Wali (Governor) of Tunbunma, sustained severe injuries during the bombardment, alongside seven other terrorists.

The latest offensive adds to a string of recent victories for the military in the region.

According to Operation Hadin Kai, a total of 37 terrorists have been neutralised over the past 72 hours of sustained military operations in the North East.
