8-month-old twins, sold twice, rescued

The Southern Police District rescued twin boys, just eight months old, after they were sold twice this month, the SPD announced yesterday.

SPD chief Brig. Gen. Rodel Pastor said initial investigation showed that the boys’ mother sold her children for P27,000 to a woman who runs a frozen meat products business in Baler, Aurora.

Pastor said the SPD launched a search for the two boys after their grandmother, who actually took care of them, sought police assistance after learning that her daughter had sold the twins.

The mother claimed that her estranged husband has a new partner and is not providing support for the two boys, Pastor said.

When the police team located the 36-year-old woman on Oct. 19 in Aurora, they found that two other children, not related to her, were living at her house, prompting them to arrest her and rescue the children.

The woman allegedly told investigators that the twins were no longer with her as she had sold them to a childless couple in Candaba, Pampanga for P30,000.

‘Our initial information showed (that the woman) was selling babies to those who can’t bear children. I hope it’s just like that. But what if she’s selling their (body) organs and delivering them elsewhere?’ Pastor said.

He said the police tracking team eventually rescued the babies from the couple in Pampanga on Sunday. The two were also placed under arrest.

The SPD is preparing charges against the woman in Baler and the couple in Pampanga.
