The Peninsula Club reaffirms commitment to golf development in Tanzania

The Peninsula Club has reaffirmed its commitment to the long-term development of golf in Tanzania through its sponsorship of the Vodacom Tanzania Open 2026, highlighting its ambition to support the growth of the sport through junior development, infrastructure investment, and collaboration with stakeholders across the golf industry.

As a private members’ business and lifestyle club, The Peninsula Club recognises golf as more than a sport. It is a platform for developing character, creating opportunities, strengthening relationships, and connecting business, tourism, and communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Club, *Johnson John, VIP Clients and Golf Manager*, emphasised the importance of a collective, long-term approach to advancing the sport. ‘We are committed to seeing the development of golf in Tanzania across all levels, from grassroots and junior development to professional competition, golf infrastructure, and investment in the sport.

We believe Tanzania has significant potential to grow its golfing landscape, and through strong partnerships, sustained investment, and a shared vision, we can create more opportunities for young people and build a stronger future for golf,’ said Johnson.

Investing in the future of golf

The Peninsula Club believes sustainable golf development requires investment beyond tournaments. Strengthening existing facilities, developing accessible practice environments, establishing development centres, and creating structured pathways for young golfers are essential to expanding participation and nurturing future talent.

The Club also recognises golf’s potential to contribute to tourism, hospitality, employment, and economic growth.

With continued investment and collaboration, Tanzania can further develop its golfing offering, attract new opportunities, and strengthen its position as a destination for sporting and leisure experiences.

A shared vision

The Club acknowledges that meaningful progress requires collaboration among golf facilities, sponsors, investors, development partners, and other industry stakeholders.

By working together, these partners can strengthen infrastructure, expand access to the game, and create a more inclusive and commercially sustainable golfing ecosystem.

‘Our ambition extends beyond supporting individual tournaments. We want to see more young people introduced to golf, stronger development pathways, improved facilities, and increased investment in the sport. No single organisation can achieve this alone.

Through collaboration and a shared commitment, we can make meaningful progress towards the future we envision for golf in Tanzania,’ Johnson added.
