The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has urged Katsina State residents to report the circulation of fake drugs and other substandard products to help curb the menace.
The Katsina State Coordinator of the agency Pharmacist Musa Momodu Ikhazobor made the appeal during an interactive session with NAFDAC stakeholders in the state.
He said public cooperation is increasingly important in tackling the circulation of fake products and drug trafficking in Katsina.
‘The circulation of fake products in the state has become disturbing. The public should not be reluctant to raise the alarm and inform NAFDAC’ he said.
Ikhazobor urged residents to use available communication channels including social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok to provide information to the agency.
He noted that NAFDAC has offices in all states of the federation making it easier for the public to report suspicious products and activities.
The coordinator said information provided by residents has been helpful adding that the agency cannot monitor every house shop and business outlet without public support.
He assured informants that their identities would remain confidential once they provided credible information.
Ikhazobor also described the stakeholder forum as timely and successful noting that participants’ feedback was important to the agency’s efforts.
