The Sustainability Expo 2026 (SX2026), an event to promote and create public awareness of sustainable development, features an SX Kids Zone that allows children to learn resilience and sustainability for the future.
Created for youths under 15 years of age, it will allow kids and young teens to enjoy different zones built around the lifecycle of an ant.
Children can learn to solve problems when faced with challenges by observing an ant colony. They will also get an “SX Kids Passport”, a booklet they can fill with collected stamps after attending each station.
They can also attend play-based learning in the form of board games, engage in role plays related to five careers linked to sustainability, try various hands-on activities, and dive into a range of collaborative skills enhancement activities.
These activities are designed to help them develop more effective communication skills while also enhancing their creativity, problem-solving, social and emotional skills.
Through their efforts and errors, they can learn to adapt and overcome challenges. The games and challenges are also aimed at helping young people build confidence and resilience to navigate a rapidly changing world.
Another highlight of the SX2026 is the “Wonders of Our Blue Space by Crystal” exhibition, featuring a 13-metre inflatable Bryde’s whale. The installation is a life-size replica of the largest Bryde’s whale ever discovered in Thailand, and serves as a remembrance of all the marine life that perishes after swallowing plastic and other ocean waste.
Children can step inside the whale to learn about its anatomy and discover how different types of waste can harm it when they become trapped in various parts of its body. The exhibition offers children an opportunity to learn how they can help save whales and protect marine life.
The show also features a blue ball pit designed to resemble the sea, with some of the balls marked with images of waste. Children are invited to jump into the pit and collect these waste-themed balls, learning about the importance of keeping the ocean clean in a fun and interactive way.
There is also a marine-life colouring corner where children can colour pictures of sea creatures and scan their finished artwork to have it displayed on a screen.
SX2026 runs from Nov 6-15 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
