Charles Spencer is sharing new details on how he crafted his sister Princess Diana’s eulogy at her funeral.

In an interview with Gyles Brandreth on the Friday, October 24, episode of the “Rosebud” podcast, the 9th Earl Spencer, 61, said that the eulogy he had originally planned for Diana’s memorial service in September 1997 was “very different” from what he eventually read.

He explained that he was “in bits” flying back to the U.K. from Cape Town, South Africa, when he started thinking about who could eulogize his sister.

“I had a big, thick address book, and I thought, ‘I want to find someone who’s going to make the speech for her.’ And I got to ‘Z’ and I hadn’t found anyone,” Spencer recalled of the “profoundly emotional moment.”

“[I] got off the plane in Heathrow [Airport], called my mother, I said, ‘I can’t think who’s going to give the eulogy. And I’ve got an awful feeling it’s going to have to be me,’” he continued. “And she said, ‘Well, it is going to be you. Your sisters and I have decided it.’”

Spencer said that he initially decided to write a “very traditional eulogy” about their childhood and such, but then thought, “Well, this is ridiculous, that’s not who she was.”

He said he soon “realized” that the moment called for him not to speak about the late Princess of Wales but to “speak for her.”

“And I knew I’d been left at that stage — it had no legal standing — but I knew she’d left me as guardian of her sons,” Spencer added of his nephews Prince William and Prince Harry, who were 15 and 12 when their mother died at age 36 after a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

“Obviously, the other parent being alive, that meant nothing, but it meant something to me. That sort of duty, I think,” Spencer said, noting that the now King Charles III would obviously be caring for his sons. “And then I wrote [the eulogy] in an hour and a half and, yeah, that was it, really.”

He admitted that he took a “name-check” to Rupert Murdoch out, deeming it “rather unnecessary,” but kept the rest of what he had planned to say in his touching speech.

The eulogy is “one of the most unforgettable moments in recent British history,” according to “Rosebud,” and detailed her selflessness, strength, beauty and love of family. It also spoke to Diana’s mistreatment by the British media.

“She would want us today to pledge ourselves to protecting her beloved boys, William and Harry, from a similar fate and I do this here Diana on your behalf. We will not allow them to suffer the anguish that used regularly to drive you to tearful despair,” Spencer said at the time.

“And beyond that,” he continued, “on behalf of your mother and sisters, I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition but can sing openly as you planned.”

Spencer has been a champion for both William, 43, and Harry, 41, over the years, notably supporting Harry in January after he settled his legal battle with The Sun. The News Group Newspaper, owned by Murdoch, 94, apologized to Harry “for the serious intrusion” of his private life, along with his late mother’s, for decades.

Spencer praised Harry following the victory, writing in an Instagram post at the time, “It takes an enormous amount of guts to take on major media organizations like this, and incredible tenacity to win against them. It’s wonderful that Harry also secured an apology for his mother — she would be immensely touched by this, I’m sure, and also rightly proud. Well done indeed.”

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and have since been in disagreement with his father, William and his wife, Kate Middleton.

Harry and Meghan, 44, now live in California with their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.

“I enjoy living [in the U.S.] and bringing my kids up here,” the Duke of Sussex said at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit in New York City in December 2024. “It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live and it feels as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me.”

Elizabeth Hurley is giving fans an update on her ongoing relationship with country music singer, Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Billy Ray. Yes, Billy Ray is fabulous. We’re very happy, very happy,” Hurley, 60, told The Times of London in an interview published on Saturday, October 25.

“He loves it. Obviously he loves England,” she continued of her beau’s thoughts on her native country. “The weather is nicer here in the summer than it is in Tennessee. He lives 40 minutes outside of Nashville. It’s so beautiful. Funnily enough, it actually looks a lot like England. Probably the equivalent of Surrey.”

The actress also revealed that when the pair is together in Tennessee, they tend to fly under the radar, something that could be difficult given their respective careers. She added that Cyrus will often be waiting in the car when she goes grocery shopping because “he would be annoying.”

Hurley and Cyrus first met back in 2022, when they costarred in Netflix’s Christmas in Paradise, but things weren’t anything other than professional between the pair until Hurley texted Cyrus in 2024.

“I didn’t even know the number, and it’s like, ‘Hey, it looks like life might be a little bit tough and just wanted you to know I’m in your corner. You got a friend in your corner,’” Cyrus recalled on Bentli’s Apple Music show in April 2025, calling Hurley a “great human being” and “impressively brilliant.”

The duo made their Instagram debut as a couple on Easter in April 2025, after keeping the growing relationship offline for months.

“Her friends have known about it for a while as it’s not a new thing,” a source told Us Weekly at the time, before the insider noted the British actress “had sworn them all to secrecy and they didn’t tell anyone outside of her tight circle of mostly gay men.”

Hurley later opened up about her budding romance at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party in New York City in May.

“I think people found Billy and I being together a little surprising. It’s not surprising to me because we’re actually quite similar and get on extremely well,” she said at the time.“There has been quite a reaction. … We both like to laugh a lot, and we both love the country. And we both love country music, both love movies. We’ve got a lot in common — and cowboy boots, definitely.”

MADRID-(MaraviPost)-Real Madrid once again proved their dominance in Spanish football after edging arch-rivals Barcelona 2-1 in a tense and entertaining El Clásico clash at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday evening, October 26, 2025.

The victory not only strengthened Madrid’s position at the summit of La Liga but also underlined their title credentials in what is shaping up to be another fierce campaign.

The match began with both sides displaying intensity and attacking intent. Real Madrid looked sharper in possession with Luka Modrić and Federico Valverde dictating play from midfield.

Barcelona, meanwhile, relied on quick counterattacks through Lamine Yamal and João Félix, but they found it difficult to break down a disciplined Madrid defense led by Antonio Rüdiger.

It was Kylian Mbappé who drew first blood for Los Blancos in the 23rd minute. The French forward finished off a beautiful move that started from deep in midfield, combining well with Vinícius Júnior before calmly slotting the ball past Marc-André ter Stegen. The Bernabéu erupted in celebration as Madrid took a deserved 1-0 lead.

However, Barcelona refused to be rattled. Just seven minutes later, Fermín López restored parity with a sharp finish from inside the box after Madrid failed to clear a dangerous cross. The equalizer injected confidence into the Catalan side, who began pressing higher up the pitch in search of a second goal before halftime.

The first half ended with both teams tied 1-1, setting the stage for a dramatic second period. Real Madrid made tactical adjustments during the break.

Vinícius Júnior came close to restoring Madrid’s lead early in the second half but his powerful effort hit the crossbar. Barcelona had their own chances too with Robert Lewandowski forcing Andriy Lunin into a smart save from a free kick. The game hung in the balance with every attack drawing roars from both sets of fans.

The breakthrough finally came in the 78th minute, and it was none other than Jude Bellingham who provided it. The English midfielder, already a fan favorite, curled a sensational shot from the edge of the area into the top corner to make it 2-1. It was a goal of pure quality and composure another big-game moment from a player who continues to deliver when it matters most.

Barcelona threw everything forward in the closing stages, introducing Ferran Torres and Raphinha to add fresh energy to their attack buut Real Madrid’s defense remained resolute, with Dani Carvajal and Rüdiger blocking every attempt and Lunin making a crucial save in stoppage time to deny Lewandowski.

When the final whistle blew, Madrid players celebrated passionately with their fans, knowing the importance of the result.

The victory extends Real Madrid’s lead at the top of La Liga to five points over second-placed Barcelona.

After telling the story of John Wayne Gacy, Devil in Disguise will return for a second season — but will the cast return in new roles for the Richard Ramirez-focused installment?

Chris Sullivan, Michael Angarano and James Badge Dale spoke exclusively with Us Weekly about the chances of the trio returning in new roles after news broke that Peacock is reportedly working on releasing season 2 about The Night Stalker.

“I would work with [creator] Patrick Macmanus and his team any time and anywhere,” Sullivan, 45, who played Bill Kunkle, shared.

“They create such an incredibly warm and creative environment,” Dale, 47, added.

Angarano, 37, was on the same page after bringing Sam Amirante to life in season 1.

“As dark and harrowing as this world was, the actual work and experience with the crew and the cast and Patrick himself [was] so warm and enjoyable,” he noted. “Anytime I work with them is the best job in the world.”

Gacy was a serial killer and sex offender who raped, tortured and murdered dozens of young men and boys. After he was convicted in 1980, he was sentenced to death and died by lethal injection in 1994. The limited series, which premiered on October 16, made an effort to focus on Gacy’s victims.

Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy addressed the trauma inflicted on the victims’ families, named each episode after a victim of Gacy’s and questioned investigative missteps and systemic failures that led to Gacy evading the law for so long.

“I’ve always been a fan of fictional horror and the true crime fad kind of slipped itself into my love of that. Then about five years ago, I had kids and I had a realization that these are real people and real lives that are affected,” Sullivan recalled. “So my taste for true crime kind of fell by the wayside.”

Sullivan’s decision to join Devil in Disguise came from his passion for Macmanus’ vision, adding, “Before we started doing this, we spoke about how do they intend to handle this story? One of the reasons I was so excited to do it was because of the honor and care with which he was telling the story and honoring the victims. The show is being very careful not to romanticize the actual violence or the killer himself.”

Angarano had a similar connection to the direction the material was going in.

“This show takes its responsibility very seriously in what it’s putting out there. One of the main perspectives and the main focus of the show are the victims and families,” he told Us. “This format of true crime has become so part of the culture. We consume it all and there’s so much of it. One thing that’s different about the show is it doesn’t feel like it’s just consumer bait. It’s really effective in that it really makes you as a viewer. It puts you in the shoes of the families and it makes you really empathize.”

Angarano continued: “This show in particular feels incredibly sad and you really feel the ripple effect of not just the name John Wayne Gacy but the impact of the death of somebody so young and innocent. I feel like this show is very different than what’s out there currently. It is very chilling and effective in feeling the weight — the actual weight — of what people associated with this man and his crimes have gone through.”

For the trio, there were specific days they each found difficult to film considering the subject matter.

“The first day we walked into the John Wayne Gacy house and we stood there with the floor ripped out of this house,” Sullivan said. “Looking down at all of the marked graves in the crawl space of the house was a real visual shock for me.”

Angarano, meanwhile, pointed out how the show “recreated” the infamous house, adding, “That recreation felt really eerie. There is also a lot of time and energy dedicated to the crawl space itself. And that that was a physical reminder every time you walked into that soundstage that there was about 20 or 30 feet of crawl space that they were filming.”

As for Dale, he was shocked at Michael Chernus‘ immersive portrayal of Gacy.

“We all know Chernus and what type of person he is and we know what type of great man he is. To watch him during these scenes, to be on set with him and watch him have to go to these places that he’s going to, it was a beautiful process,” the actor added. “Everyone was really respectful and we had a great culture on set. When Chris is talking about the house, when you walked into that set it was very quiet. 100 people were there on this film crew and everybody was treating it with a lot of respect as to how we’re going to handle this work.”

Michael Cyril Creighton is remaining tight-lipped about the Only Murders in the Building season 5 finale — but he did drop some hints.

“What I will say is, I’ve seen it, I’ve read it, I was there. I think it is surprising and satisfying and wild,” Creighton teased to Us Weekly during an exclusive interview. “There’s a lot that’s going to happen.”

Season 5 of the beloved Hulu show centers around sleuths Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin) investigating the death of Arconia’s doorman Lester. Along the way, the trio discovers that there’s more than one death in the case: Nicky (Bobby Cannavale) has also passed.

In the second-to-last episode of season 5, one major mystery is solved as fellow Arconia doorman Randall (Jermaine Fowler) revealed that Lester killed Nicky with an elevator crank after learning of plans to convert the building into a casino. With one piece of the puzzle now put into place, the jury is still out on who killed Lester.

But it’s never a simple case; to complicate matters, there’s still questions surrounding a stolen finger and scuff marks left on the nearby floor — which Howard (Creighton) then realizes was created by someone on a motorized scooter. All fingers point to Nicky’s mom, Nonna (Elizabeth D’Onofrio) — and all praise from the trio is directed at Howard.

“To have Howard feel useful and have Howard have a win at the end, it felt great. It was wonderful,” Creighton gushed. “It’s so exciting that he is useful and helpful. He’s constantly trying to figure out what he’s good at every season — be it yodeling, be it documentary filmmaking, he’s tried it all. I think what he’s really good at is being the trio side kick, and he is more integral than he knows. That is really exciting that that’s what we take away at the end of episode nine.”

As the chapter begins to close on Only Murders in the Building season 5, Creighton already has visions of what he hopes for Howard in a potential next season.

“I want to see him win more,” Creighton said. “It was really fun to see him solve a clue. That smile we see at the end, when the trio was like, ‘You did it. You did it, you did it, Howard’ and how happy he is — it would be nice to see Howard happy. I don’t think we’ve seen him that happy. It would be nice to see him figure out what he’s good at, but it’s really fun to watch him struggle to find out.”

Creighton, for his part, also has the blueprint for a hypothetical spinoff with Howard mapped out in his head.

“He’s traveling around country to country with his dog and he’s selling mysteries. Maybe every now and then the trio comes in for a little guest star,” Creighton said.

In Creighton’s mind, the initial vision was animated, but he noted that if Howard would be adventuring around the globe, he’d “like to do that” too. He quipped, “Let’s just keep those fingers crossed for years to come.”

The Only Murders in the Building season 5 finale airs on Hulu Tuesday, October 28.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is accused of greedy, selfishness over Speakership in Malawi Parliament.

DPP is also repeating the same mistake, party made in 2019 by wanting to amass it all in Speakership.

DPP greedy is seen after Northern Region bloc, a group of about 37 Members of Parliament (MPs) who endorsed the candidacy of Mzimba North MP Catherine Mzumara (UTM) for the position of First Deputy Speaker, has expressed surprise at the Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) decision to select another candidate.

The DPP has instead nominated Mulanje Bale MP, Victor Musowa, for the role.

Speaking on behalf of the bloc on Sunday, Karonga Central MP Frank Mwenifumbo stated that the DPP had previously committed to supporting a candidate from the North for First Deputy Speaker.

Despite this development, Mwenifumbo confirmed that the bloc will maintain its support for Sameer Suleman for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly.

When contacted, Mzumara, who is the UTM Party’s Vice President for the North, declared, “I will fight to the end.”

In a separate interview, DPP spokesperson Shadric Namalomba confirmed the party’s official slate: Sameer Suleman for Speaker of Parliament, Victor Musowa for First Deputy Speaker, and Esther Jolobala for Second Deputy Speaker.

“I will not comment much on the issue of the Northern Region bloc; let me just speak on the decision the party has made,” Namalomba said.

The election for the Speakership positions is scheduled for October 29, 2025.
