‘Tracker’ EP Defends Multiple Cast Exits, Teases More Possible Changes

Justin Hartley‘s Tracker has gone through several shocking cast exits — and there could be more reconfiguration in the future.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, executive producer Elwood Reid defended the decision to shake up season 3 with Velma (Abby McEnany) and Bobby’s (Eric Graise) surprise departures.

“Justin has to carry so much of the show. So I don’t want the other characters that are in the show to just be phone-a-friend where whenever he’s in trouble, he just picks up the phone. The challenge in season 3 has been how do we build actual good story out of [it],” Reid teased ahead of the Sunday, October 19, premiere.

Reid pointed out that Reenie (Fiona Rene) and Randy (Chris Lee) are still in the picture.

Justin Hartley’s Rare Comments About ‘Tracker’ Losing Multiple Cast Members

“Reenie takes a lot of the guilt [from her season 2 case] on and she’s brought Randy up there to fix it. You get to see them in the office. That forms a good bond between those two. Then we’re going to bring in another character as she tries to expand her law office a little bit. That will be interesting,” he continued. “It’s just building out those story lines. The challenge we set up for ourselves this season was to build out those people’s world a little bit.”

Reid continued: “It’s about trying to get a little bit of lightness [into the show] because sometimes Colter is doing some really dark and heavy stuff. It’s life or death.”

CBS

Since Tracker premiered in February 2024, viewers have tuned in week after week to see Colter (Hartley) travel the country to help solve various missing persons cases. As Colter has gotten help, the ensemble cast has grown with characters such as handlers Teddi (Robin Weigert) and Velma, hacker Bobby and attorney Reenie.

Season 3 will pick up after Colter’s Velma and Bobby (Graise) exited the series. Overall, Weigert, McEnany and Graise have all left Tracker in the first two seasons. According to Reid, this doesn’t mean viewers shouldn’t be worried about more onscreen shakeups.

Why Did ‘Tracker’ Lose 3 Cast Members Before Season 3? Shakeups Explained

“You never know. The only person that is safe is Justin. It is Tracker and he’s on the poster. For any show — and it’s going into its third season — it has to grow. When I mean grow, I don’t mean bigger car chases or plane stunts. I mean grow the characters out in a meaningful way and in many ways,” he explained. “If I’m asking you to spend an hour of your life with this show, I do think you need to get some emotion and some connection to these characters. Part of that is making them three-dimensional characters that exist outside of helping Colter again. He got this whole dark history in the past and we mine that. But that means the other characters have to have some stuff in their life. Everyone has to have their thing. I think that’s super important.”

While addressing the casting shifts, Reid acknowledged mixed reactions from viewers.

“None of these people are gone. They’re not dead. We always try to build out and expand those characters,” he continued. “We’ve got a good team in place and we’re going to bring in another character.”

Tracker returns to CBS on Sunday, October 19, at 8 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Paramount+.

Keith Urban Reacts to Fan Telling Him Her Name Is ‘Nicole’

Keith Urban dodged a potentially awkward situation on tour when a fan inadvertently alluded to his split from Nicole Kidman.

In a video filmed at the musician’s High and Alive tour at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, October 17 and posted via TikTok the same evening, Urban is featured having an interaction with a fan.

“I’m not going to like your name?” a confused-sounding Urban, 57, asked the fan in the TikTok clip.

In response, the fan explained, “It’s Nicole” as the surrounding audience members could be heard gasping and laughing.

Urban took the comment in good humor, briefly bowing his head and then collapsing backwards on stage in an exaggerated manner. After lying down on stage momentarily and waving his arm, Urban sat back up.

He then deflected the implied reference to his estranged wife Kidman, by jokingly asking the fan, “Did you say Nicole Richie?”

“How are you Nicole Richie?” Urban continued, “It’s A Simple Life. Is that the name of the show? What’s Nicole Richie in? The Simple Life.”

Putting the jokes behind him, Urban then went on to help the fan tell her family that she was pregnant by showing a onesie on the big screen in a sweet moment. The baby outfit had the words “Smallest Keith Urban fan” written across the front.

On September 30, Kidman, 58, filed for divorce from Urban after 19 years of marriage.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the Big Little Lies actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and listed their date of separation as the same date of the divorce filing.

Kidman requested to be named the “primary residential parent” of her and Urban’s minor children, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.

Nicole Kidman Spotted for 1st Time Since Keith Urban Split

“This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated,” an insider told Us at the time. “Her trust was lost, and it was too far gone. Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public. She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months.”

News of their split came months after Kidman attended the Met Gala solo in May. Kidman and Urban were last spotted out in public at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 game in Nashville on June 20. The Music City outing came just five days before their 19th wedding anniversary.

The former couple met in 2005 at the G’Day USA gala event in Los Angeles. Just one year later, they tied the knot in the Sydney suburb of Manly.

“I swear to you, she glided across the room, like floated. I don’t know how she did it,” Urban said of first crossing paths with Kidman when he reflected on their meeting during a November 2010 interview. “It was out of this world and there was a split moment where she wasn’t with anybody, there was nobody around, and I thought, ‘I’ll just go up and say hi.’”

The following month, Makensy exclusively shared an update on their relationship during an interview with Us Weekly.

“Matt’s in Atlanta and I am moving to Atlanta,” Makensy told Us in January. “I’m so, so excited. A lot of people are like, ‘Why didn’t you drag him to Texas?’ I’m like, ‘Well guys, I really like Atlanta.’ I actually grew up here for 10 years so I really like it here. I love the community that he’s built here and I think it’s just time for me to have a little change and I want to be close to him.”

In the same interview, Matt shared that he was initially worried his relationship with Makensy would survive outside the Big Brother house.

“Out of the house, I would say I didn’t know where we were going to be at,” Matt told Us. “I also didn’t know to what extent and readiness Makensy was going to be after an experience like that.”

Marisa Ramirez on Shocking ‘Boston Blue’ Cameo, Teases Baez and Danny Romance

Blue BloodsMarisa Ramirez was “honored” to be a surprise guest star on the Boston Blue series premiere — but warned Us that Maria Baez and Danny Reagan’s romance might not last.

Warning: Spoilers below for season 1, episode 1 of Boston Blue.

“You should always worry about long distance,” Ramirez, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of her Boston Blue cameo. She added to the ominous warning, “You never know what’s gonna happen. Always worry.”

During the series premiere of Boston Blue on Friday, October 17, fans finally got answers about Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez’s (Ramirez) relationship fate after the Blue Bloods series finale in December 2024 left them in limbo.

Blue Bloods’ Danny Reagan and Maria Baez’s Relationship Timeline

“The show could have just kind of walked away and said, ‘Oh, you know, Baez and Danny broke up. Big deal. Let’s move on,’” Ramirez revealed to Us, noting the writers bringing their relationship into the spinoff world was “really, really sweet and generous and such a treat for all of the Blue Bloods fans that were kind of all left hanging with their relationship.”

After Danny’s son Sean (Mika Amonsen) was injured in a fire in Boston during the premiere, Danny got a call back in New York City where he was getting out of bed with Baez, confirming they are in fact a couple.

“I thought we said when we stay at my place, we turn our ringers off,” a shirtless Danny told Baez as he cheekily scolded her during one of the opening scenes.

Baez, who was wearing an oversized shirt with her bra peeking through, quipped, “It’s your phone, smart ass.”

Once Danny realized the call was about Sean being in the hospital, Baez consoled him briefly before he hopped on a plane to see his son. Once there, Danny assisted Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green) in solving the case and finding the person responsible for starting the fire that put Sean in the hospital.

Boston Blue’s Danny ‘Quickly’ Develops ‘Phenomenal Partnership’ After Baez

Some fans, however, couldn’t get over Baez and Danny’s saucy hookup and their hard launch, which came after Danny asked Baez out for pizza during the Blue Bloods series finale following a decades-long friendship and long-term police partnership.

“I think they went on multiple pizza dates,” Ramirez joked to Us, revealing that the exact amount of time between the Blue Bloods finale and Boston Blue’s premiere is unclear.

While fans — and Ramirez herself — are excited that Danny and Baez are an item, the actress told Us their physical distance could cause problems moving forward. (Danny vowed to stay by Sean’s side in Boston during the premiere until he was safely out of the hospital and back on his feet.)

While Ramirez said she thinks Baez and her daughter, Elena, “could move to Boston no problem,” she confessed that her future on the spinoff is unknown.

CBS

“To me, it’s not that fun to watch such a happy couple. It’s fun when there’s ups and downs and arguments and kind of getting back together,” she explained. “It’s more fun to watch kind of turmoil in relationships, because it makes it that much sweeter when it works out and they get together.”

Ramirez teased that as Boston Blue continues — and Danny builds a life in Boston while Baez is in New York — fans can expect “a little bit of push and pull and back and forth until something does happen” to make them find a better solution.

‘Blue Bloods’ Cast Marks 1 Year Since Filming Emotional Series Finale

Ramirez, however, noted that she’s “not closing any doors” after her premiere cameo. “I would hope she’s gonna be in more than just one scene out of this whole season, right?” she added, playing coy about how many times fans will see her character.

“I just think that you’re honestly just gonna have to watch,” she said, adding, “But still be worried about the long distance thing working out or not working out.”

Boston Blue airs on CBS Fridays at 10 p.m. ET.

‘The Rainmaker’ Season 1 Divisive Ending Explained: Who Died? Who Broke Up?

The Rainmaker was building up to the trial where Rudy faced off against Leo — but the finale could be divisive for fans looking for a specific ending.

Based on John Grisham‘s 1995 novel of the same name, The Rainmaker follows young lawyer Rudy (Milo Callaghan), who is fired from his prestigious white-collar firm and signs on with small-time ambulance chaser Bruiser (Lana Parrilla). Rudy subsequently tries to win in court over his former boss. The book was adapted into a movie by Francis Ford Coppola in 1997 starring Mickey Rourke and Matt Damon.

USA Network’s version of The Rainmaker showed Rudy nearly losing against Leo (John Slattery) before coming out on top. The rest of the Tinley Britt law firm took a hit with Brad (Wade Briggs) going to prison as the fall guy. Leo’s legacy also fell apart as Sarah (Madison Iseman) ended up the only one finding success after the fact.

“Ultimately, it’s a tough one. It was the most therapeutic experience for me,” Iseman, 28, exclusively told Us Weekly about showing Sarah’s cutthroat approach. “Regardless of whether Sarah is making the right decision, the big theme of this show is the morally gray [area]. Even Rudy — who is our hero — makes some questionable decisions.”

Fall 2025 TV Schedule: See When Your Favorite Shows Will Air

Iseman praised Sarah for the way she took “her power in the courtroom,” adding, “I really think she does it for her. I don’t think she does it for anybody else. There might be some audience members who very much disagree with that logic but that is what she decides to do. And at that point, she wants to prove to herself and show that she can do it. She wants to show that she is just as good — if not better — than Rudy.”

While season 1 started with Sarah and Rudy planning a future together, the finale showed a stark difference as the former couple were on opposite sides of the courtroom.

“No one is going to take her down. Brad tried and turned a switch and she said, ‘I’m not going to let any of these people tell me who I can be. So I’m going to take space in this courtroom and dominate,’” the actress reflected. “I know there’s going to be some people who don’t love it.”

Sarah’s story might not land for everyone, but Iseman is thrilled by the chance to tell her story on screen.

Which TV Shows Have Received Very Early — And Surprise — Renewals in 2025

“When I first read for Sarah, I very much knew who she was in the beginning of the show. I felt very, very close to her. As I read episode to episode, I was just so impressed by the complexity of her character and what she goes through,” she shared with Us. “It’s very interesting to tap into young women who make questionable decisions even though some people might disagree with a lot of the decisions that Sarah makes.”

She added: “As an actor, those are the stories that are more fun to tell. I like trying to find this young and innocent woman who’s so naive about life and the world of law and justice and where the corruption takes her and why she makes the decisions that she does. Even from episode 1. I was able to start spreading the seeds of why she does what she does.”

The Rainmaker is currently streaming on Peacock.
