Selma Blair’s lifelong health struggles were signs of multiple sclerosis that doctors wouldn’t acknowledge until she was in her 40s.
“I was diagnosed with relapsing limiting MS in 2018. It turned out I probably had juvenile MS as my first optical neuritis was when I was about seven, which left me with a lazy eye from nerve damage,” Blair, 53, said at the Flow Space Women’s Health Summit earlier this month. “But there were a lot of things missed my whole life.”
“I had CAT scans as a kid, and I had doctor visits, and I stayed in hospitals for weeks at a time,” Blair recalled. “I’d have fevers, I have pain, endless, bone crushing fatigue that I still do have. And my mom would say, why can’t you give her an MRI? And they’re like, ‘Oh, she doesn’t need it. She’s probably getting her period.’”
She added: “But then a boy would come in from my class who had a headache and they gave him an MRI the first thing. Now, they’re not wrong for doing that for him, but it’s like, What? Because I appeared OK, even though I had headaches all the time.”
The actress considered her diagnosis a relief after unexplained health issues often dismissed by medical professionals when she was younger as “growing pains.” Blair first revealed in 2018 that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She took a brief hiatus amid treatment and later returned to acting while also continuing to speak out about her health journey.
“I just put it on my Instagram to thank people on a set that were helping me stay at my job, because I couldn’t use my hands well, I couldn’t take my clothes off. I still sometimes struggle with dystonia and speech and movement, even though I’m relapse free right now,” Blair explained at the October event. “But when I did post I saw that there was a whole world that was that felt seen or a part of being seen or could relate to someone having chronic health issues.”
Blair has been thrilled about how her story has brought a community together, adding, “I realized that was a comfort to a lot of people. And there weren’t a lot of resources out about MS at the time.”
“There was so much I needed to learn,” she continued. “I’m still learning as I live with it, but I did see that it was much bigger than me. And then it had a point to me to sharing. It felt good. It felt good knowing people were feeling some comfort.”
Since being in remission, Blair has continued to shine a light on how she’s making progress.
“So a lot of people have been asking me how I am doing so great and my movement is so much different, and I really am excited,” Blair exclusively stated in a video for Us Weekly in August 2024. “I want to let people know that — I’m still in remission, I’m feeling great — after the bone marrow transplant, I actually fell into a major relapse.”
She explained that a recent MRI “lit up flare” and showed her “new lesions,” after which a doctor suggested she try out a new kind of therapy.
“It was just tablets. So I took that, a couple short series of tablets, and in two years your therapy is done. It’s called Mavenclad,” Blair told Us. “It’s been amazing and it helped my movement and speech so much, and it’s allowed me to have a great summer, great years. I need you all to know. Bye.”
“When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay,” Kardashian, 44, said during the podcast episode, released on Wednesday, October 15. “It changes everyone’s life, forever.”
Kardashian married West in 2014 and they welcomed four kids, North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5, during their marriage. The reality star filed for divorce in 2021 and their split was finalized the following year.
Kardashian admitted that “maybe” she “wasn’t paying attention” to any negative signs in her marriage but the split wasn’t an easy decision.
“When someone has their first mental break, you want to be super supportive and you want to help figure that out,” she said. “When someone isn’t willing to make changes that, I think, would be super healthy and beneficial, it makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic.”
Initially, Kardashian said she wanted to “believe that for a little bit” things would get better but her kids helped make the final decision to leave.
Call Her Daddy
“Ince my mental health starts to get affected and then I can’t parent the way that I need to and I can’t be present and focused. There’s got to be one of us that can,” Kardashian explained. “I had to save myself in order to be a better mom for everyone.”
Aside from the conversation about her split from West, the reality star also had some fun during her “Call Her Daddy” appearance. Keep scrolling for the biggest revelations:
Those Diamond Earrings
Everyone’s heard the line: “Kim, there are people that are dying.” But Kardashian offered some insight into why her diamond earrings at the bottom of the ocean were actually a big deal.
“That was one of my first biggest purchases, so they weren’t insured yet,” she explained. “That’s why I was so upset, is because that would be money down the drain. If I insured them, then I can just claim them, and then I could have gotten my money back, but I hadn’t insured them. I got them that week.”
Plastic Surgery Rumors
Kardashian set the record straight on her May 2021 Met Gala look — and, no, her face wasn’t covered in the all-black Balenciaga outfit to hide any facelift surgery scars.
“That’s insane,” Kardashian said. “I would absolutely love to show it off if I did, but no I didn’t.”
Call Her Daddy
Those Travis Barker Rumors
Kardashian addressed rumors that she hooked up with Barker before he was married to her sister Kourtney Kardashian. (Barker gushed about how hot Kim was in his 2015 book, Can I Say.)
“I never have,” Kim explained, “That really sucks that that has gone on, but he dated Paris [Hilton] and we were all friends and we’d all hang out.”
Craziest Sex Story
While she didn’t share with whom, Kardashian did say she once had sex in a movie theater.
“We had lots of different mixed emotions,” she said. “We’re learning this all for the first time and then we wanna be supportive for our little sisters, trying to be supportive for my mom that’s now getting a divorce and making sure we don’t say anything super offensive.”
Kardashian added, “We didn’t really know anything so we just had to kind of figure it out and we did it all on camera.”
The Kanye of It All
Kardashian admitted that she was “really dissociated” during her marriage to the rapper.
“There were so many times where I was just really quiet and just trying to figure it all out,” she said, noting that the “extra pressure” of being in a public relationship made it more difficult to navigate.
“An over a decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure,” Kardashian continued. “You can’t think that way. You can’t live that way. You can’t worry about what everyone’s going to say and I have to come home to myself and I have to be happy.”
This is the longest Kardashian has ever been single and she’s feeling “totally content” with her relationship status.
“I have my kids to raise, I have a life that requires a lot of my attention and my kids just really need me right now,” she explained. “I don’t know how I would fit something else in. So I’m just not looking and it would have to be someone super special for me.”
Debunking the Kardashian Curse
As the rumor goes, any man who dates a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family has a fall from grace. However, Kim doesn’t see it that way.
“I always really hated that,” she said. “I think it’s really unfair to say that women are the problem when it comes to issues that our exes might be dealing with — and that they had those issues before.”
ANTANANARIVO-(MaraviPost)-Military coup leader in Madagascar Michael Randrianirina has announced that he is assuming the role of president, citing an invitation from the country’s High Constitutional Court.
According to reports, Randrianirina’s elite Capsat unit joined forces with anti-government protesters on Saturday, prompting Rajoelina to abandon his post.
The unit’s defection marked a significant turning point in the weeks-long protests, which were initially sparked by grievances over basic services such as electricity and water.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Randrianirina expressed his intention to be sworn in as the new president soon.
“There must be an oath-taking” to formalize his position, he said.
The colonel also announced plans to appoint a new prime minister who would form a government, although no timeline has been given.
Rajoelina, who has been president since 2018, has condemned the takeover as an “illegal coup attempt by a rebel faction.”
His departure comes after weeks of protests led by young people, who were joined by civic groups and trade unions.
The demonstrations, which began over issues such as power outages and water shortages, have snowballed into a broader movement demanding accountability and political change.
The protests have been marked by violence, with at least 22 people killed and dozens injured, according to the United Nations.
The African Union has convened an emergency meeting of its security council, but no significant response has been forthcoming.
As the situation in Madagascar continues to unfold, concerns are growing about the country’s stability and future.
Randrianirina’s assumption of power has sparked debate, with some analysts criticizing the military’s involvement in politics.
“This is a civil society uprising, and its resolution should not involve the military,” said Olufemi Taiwo, professor of Africana studies at Cornell University.
The international community’s response will be crucial in determining Madagascar’s trajectory.
Meanwhile, the people of Madagascar wait with bated breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
In the wake of the recent general elections held just a few weeks ago, where Malawians went to the polls and decisively elected Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to lead the nation, it is baffling and frankly frustrating to witness the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) persistently bombarding the public with countdowns and updates about an election that is still 1,800 days away.
This obsession with future elections is not only unnecessary but also counterproductive for a country in dire need of focus on recovery, unity, and development.
Malawi has spoken. The people have voted, and the democratic process has been duly respected. The electoral mood should now be over.
What should now dominate the national discourse is not a constant reminder of a political event scheduled for nearly five years from today, but rather how to collectively rebuild a nation grappling with numerous socio-economic challenges.
The MEC’s relentless focus on the next election, with its centidaily countdowns and reminders, smacks of an obsession that undermines the very essence of governance and nation-building.
It is high time the Malawi Electoral Commission exercises some restraint and stops these premature electoral updates which serve no constructive purpose at this moment.
Instead of helping the nation heal and move forward, this constant preoccupation with elections risks destabilizing the fragile peace and progress we have just begun to nurture.
The Commission’s role should be to ensure free and fair elections when the time comes — not to distract the populace with irrelevant countdowns while the country faces real issues that demand urgent attention.
Malawi is at a critical juncture. With the new administration under President Mutharika and the DPP, there is an opportunity to focus on policies and initiatives that will lift the economy, improve healthcare, enhance education, and restore infrastructure.
These are the priorities that deserve the nation’s energy and the Commission’s indirect support by allowing the political environment to settle without continuous electoral noise.
The obsession with the electoral calendar is premature and, frankly, disrespectful to the citizens who have just engaged in the democratic process.
It sends a message that elections — and not governance or service delivery — are the only things that matter.
This is a narrow view that risks reducing democracy to a mere contest without appreciating the long and arduous journey of development that follows each election cycle.
Five years is a long time in the life of a nation. It is a period where governments can make significant strides or falter terribly. The focus now must be on the former.
The MEC’s countdowns and updates, far from adding value, risk cultivating a political culture obsessed with power struggles instead of meaningful progress.
This is a dangerous precedent that could breed apathy, fatigue, and disillusionment among citizens who are eager for tangible improvements in their daily lives.
Malawi needs healing and rebuilding. The wounds of past political tensions and economic hardships cannot be healed by constant reminders of future elections.
The MEC should instead play a supportive, behind-the-scenes role, ensuring that electoral processes remain credible but not intrusive or disruptive to national development.
The government, led by the DPP, has been given a clear mandate to govern. The people expect effective leadership, accountability, and results.
The discourse should revolve around how to achieve these goals, not on how many days remain before the next election.
Constant electoral hype distracts from the real issues: poverty reduction, job creation, education reform, healthcare improvements, and infrastructure development.
It is time for the Malawi Electoral Commission to put the country’s interests first.
Stop the unnecessary countdowns and electoral updates that serve no immediate purpose.
Let the political temperature cool and allow the government to focus on its mandate without being overshadowed by electoral theatrics.
The people of Malawi deserve peace of mind, stability, and hope for a brighter future — not constant reminders of political contests years away.
This is not just a call for common sense but a demand for responsible governance from an institution that should be above political distractions.
The MEC must understand that elections are a means to an end — the end being a stable, prosperous Malawi where citizens live with dignity.
Until then, let us all focus on rebuilding and strengthening our nation, not obsessing over a future election that is still far, far away.
Malawians have spoken and now it is time to listen — not to the countdowns, but to the urgent needs of the people. The MEC must heed this call and stop the needless electoral updates once and for all.
Let us move forward as a united nation, with clear eyes on development and progress, leaving the election fever behind until the appropriate moment approaches.
The future of Malawi depends not on how many days remain on a calendar, but on how effectively we use the days we have now to build a better, stronger country for all. Enough is enough — the countdown can wait. The time to rebuild Malawi is now.

We’re firm believers that you can achieve celebrity-grade style without a celebrity-grade paycheck. Case in point: the Minorsu Black Buckle Mules. These backless shoes look just like a pair Meghan Markle wore earlier this month — except instead of dropping $1,375 on Hermès Oz Mules, you can spend just $37.
These Amazon mules are on the simple side, but that’s what makes them look high-end. The faux leather creates a clean appearance, while gold-covered hardware embellishes each shoe. Since the design doesn’t have backing, it’s easy to slip it on or off, whether you’re wearing jeans, a dress or something else.
Get Minorsu Black Buckle Mules for $37 at Amazon! Please note prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change.
These versatile shoes are ideal for fall, and if you’re hoping to switch up the color and texture, you have 19 combinations to choose from, including beige suede, white lace and pink faux leather. However, the classic black faux leather is a spot-on match for Markle’s pair.
The inside of this shoe is just as notable as its exterior. Memory foam cushions paired with raised insoles work to reduce pressure on your feet, and while the 0.5-inch rubber heel isn’t very noticeable, that slight height can subtly improve your posture. You’ll walk a little more elegantly, even if you don’t realize it.
Amazon shoppers agree that these mules look more expensive than they are. Plus, you won’t be begging to take them off after an hour, thanks to the considerable cushioning.
“I absolutely love these shoes! They’re such great quality and even better than some of those pricey name-brand pairs I’ve bought before,” wrote one five-star reviewer. “I have them in different colors, and I adore each one! I haven’t needed to replace them yet, which is fantastic!”
“The cushioned insole and backless design make them a joy to wear for long periods,” shared another happy shopper. “The chic buckle detail adds a touch of sophistication, and their durability after weeks of use impresses me. They’re my go-to choice for any occasion, offering both flair and ease.”
Minorsu’s mules prove that expensive-looking pieces are lurking on Amazon, and — more importantly! — that Markle-esque style doesn’t have to break the bank!

Today marks thirty-eight (38) years since the former President of Burkina Faso, Captain Thomas Sankara was tragically murdered in an act of anti-African violence in Ouagadougou. The deep grief felt by the Burkinabe people and Africans, both at home and abroad continue to reverberate today with all black people across the global village. Although this dastardly act remains one of the most terrorism unleashed on the African continent, the crime is still unsolved and no meaningful accountability.
Thomas Sankara was made a martyrdom when he was gunned on 15th October, 1987 in what was believed to be a watershed moment for the African continent, sparking a feeling of senseless violence, harmful rhetoric, and foreign suppression that Africans had been subjected to, for the past six decades (60 years) of independence. As we continue to remember the life and legacy of this illustrious Pan-African revolutionary leader, we are still reminded of the horror and indignities that the anti-African outdated policies and prejudices, hate and xenophobic rhetoric continue to harm our continent.
The conspiracy against Thomas Sankara was not only about silencing the architect of the modern African revolution of the 21st century, it was also about subjecting the African people to the whims and caprices of foreign criminal adventurers on the continent. The international community has brushed aside concerns over the involvement of former colonial masters in the assassination of progressive African leaders, like Captain Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso. On the 38th anniversary of the murder of the Burkinabe leader, the Sahel Solidarity Campaign Network (SaS-CaN) seeks accountability for the murder of one of Africa’s iconic revolutionary leaders.
This anti-African project is still hunting our continent and black people everywhere. Anti-African rhetoric led to the Libyan genocide in 2011, which was spearheaded by European nations and the United States and other hostile countries to Africa. Former leaders of France, Britain and the United States repeatedly used anti-African aggressive rhetoric and stereotypes to launch the genocide campaign against Africans in Libya, leading to the brutal murder of Muammar Gaddafi and the death of over two million blacks in the North African nation.
Today, President Donald Trump continues to use same anti-African aggressive rhetoric and false narratives that undermine peace, stability and development in Africa. While his European allies are threatening to unleash mayhem if their economic agenda on the continent are challenged, it is despicable for any foreign powers to treat Africa as a testing ground for all sorts of outdated policies and prejudices.
American and European politicians, opinion leaders, governments, think tanks and some members-states of the United Nations, NGOs and the media that have recently expressed their hatreds for the ongoing revolution in the Sahel region must realise that Africa is in another level, trying to carve its own destination. We wish to remind them that for most parts of post-independence Africa, one of the worst tragedy of the twentieth century that has been inflicted on the continent was the brutal assassination of twenty-seven (27) of our progressive leaders.
Ironically, the brutal murder of Captain Thomas Sankara was inspired by a foreign government that pretended to be a friend of Africa. The said government and its allies initiated the ongoing terrorism war against Africans in the Sahel.
The ongoing terrorism war has brought untold suffering, misery, insecurity and underdevelopment in the Sahel, a genocide campaign that led the patriotic men and women in the Malian, Burkinabe and Republic of Niger military to intervene to restore peace and to protect, defend and save at all costs the region and its people from drowning into the mighty ocean. Throughout the history of post-independence Africa, the West has been hiding behind the façade of democracy and human rights to destroy leaders who refused to pawn the dignity and integrity of their peoples to Western manipulations.
Since the current revolution in the Sahel, some foreign powers attempted in so many ways to return the region back to the old system or status quo. The same powers have condemned the governments of the three wise men and Leaders of Mali, Burkina Faso and the Republic of Niger for their determination to crush the terrorists out of the Sahel.
How can those foreign powers claim about their commitment to promote democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the Sahel by ways of spewing out anti-African aggressive rhetoric, sidelining the competent authorities in Bamako, Ouagadougou and Niamey, ignoring national ignoring sovereignty and independence? Or to put it in a more subtle way: Why is it that the Sahel, which was once labelled as the poorest and educationally backward region in the world, be the subject of so much foreign interference?
The truth is that, the activities of those foreign powers go a long way to expose the incessant attempts of a far distant superpower interfering in the domestic affairs of the Sahel region to achieve its geopolitical ambition irrespective of the ensuing consequences and worse at the pity and mercy of poor innocent masses of the African people. Unfortunately, there are African puppet leaders on the continent, who have been enlisted as collaborators and cheap pawns; they are repeating their past mistakes as they push to provoke regime change in Mali, Burkina Faso and the Republic of Niger, but in a more sophisticated and covert forms. The masquerading rhetoric used has always been in the defence of democratic principles and universal human rights.
It has taken a tremendous collective effort to keep Sankara’s memory alive and to ensure accountability for his brutal assassination. For this, the Sahel Solidarity Campaign Network (SaS-CaN) is deeply grateful to the monuments and structures that have been built in Burkina Faso and other parts of the world in honour of Thomas Samkara.
It pains some foreign powers to suffer retreat in Africa. There is no choice but to rally behind the three wise-men and leaders of the Sahel region for peace, sovereignty, freedom and homeland dignity. Our plea is for the West and the United States not to repeat the same mistakes and miscalculations of imposing terrorism war in the Sahel region. We deem it unfair and unjust, should the West insist on hiding behind ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) to reverse the revolution in the Sahel region. The current revolutionary leaders in the Sahel are making so much efforts to end the proxy terrorism war, to restore peace, stability and development, and the only wise-men and God-sent Messiahs to stand up to protect and defend sovereignty, national independence and homeland dignity.
In the face of the darkest tragedy and grief, the competent authorities in Ouagadougou have helped to restore African people’s lost hope. And as decades passed, the media, both print, television, podcast, and social have played meaningful role in continuing to remind the global community who Captain Thomas Sankara was and why his life mattered.
Signed:
Alimamy Bakarr Sankoho-founder and President The Sahel Solidarity Campaign Network
