BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Former President of the Republic of Malawi, Bakili Muluzi, has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a “courageous leader, a champion for democracy, and a true son of Africa.”
In a heartfelt condolence message, Muluzi said he received the news of Odinga’s passing with “profound sadness.”
“On behalf of my family and on my own behalf, I extend our deepest condolences to you personally, to the children and to the entire Odinga family during this time of immense sorrow,” said Muluzi.
The former Malawian leader reminisced about the close friendship and mutual respect he shared with Odinga over the years, recalling moments of camaraderie and kindness.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) leader Enoch Chihana says has he is not losing sleep on his assuming office as second-vice president of the Republic of Malawi.
Chihana reaction comes amid questions in some quarters of the society on the status of his swearing-in after President Peter Mutharika appointed a partial cabinet of three ministers and sworn-in.
The AFORD leader’s swearing-in has been delay amid waiting full cabinet expected-out in days time.
Chihana’s publicist Maurice Munthali however disclosed that the Office of the President and Cabinet was working on the matter “to ensure a smooth transition.”
“We anticipate the appointment of cabinet ministers, and subsequently, the swearing-in ceremony of the 2nd vice president will follow, likely this weekend or early next week.”
“Our leader Enoch Chihana is not losing sleep over the swearing-in ceremony as its within 21 days according to the law”, assures Munthali.
Munthali therefore has urged Aford sympathisers to look beyond the alliance and invest their energy towards nation-building.

The Christian community in Nigeria is mourning the passing of Evangelist Uma Ukpai, one of the nation’s most respected ministers of the gospel, who died at the age of 80. His homegoing comes shortly after the loss of other great Christian figures this year, and many believers are now recalling a prophetic message from Wiseman Daniel that seems to have foretold this moment.
In one of his messages, Wiseman Daniel gave a serious warning to Christians about the need to pray for prominent ministers in Nigeria. His words were:
“Christians, let us pray for our prominent ministers of the gospel here in Nigeria. It’s just an extension — a tree with a branch — numbers 10 and 11 are related.

Midler, 79, appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, October 14, where she discussed her relationship with Keaton.
“She was such a genius,” Midler began. “There was something about her that was utterly magical … she was completely her own person and inimitable. She was so authentically herself.”
Midler admitted that prior to the pair connecting alongside Goldie Hawn for The First Wives Club, released in 1996, she had felt intimidated by Keaton when they first met. “I have a great memory of her with Goldie … I had never worked or met them before, and we sat down in a cafe … at a round table and I was so intimidated, ” Midler told Stephen Colbert, 61. “I was a little bit of a newbie. So, we sat there and they started telling stories, and I’ll tell you, I never laughed harder in my whole life. It was brilliant and magical.”

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, October 14, Alexander, who was married to Spears, 43, for 55 hours in January 2004, slammed the singer’s second husband Federline, 47, in a lengthy post accompanied by a mocking meme.
“Kevin, You Don’t Get to Rewrite the Story Without Owning Your Role,” Alexander, 43, began. “Surprise, surprise, it leans heavy on painting Britney in a bad light. As someone who’s known Britney most of her life — not just as her first husband, but as a friend who’s seen what she’s gone through — I can’t stay silent. Kevin, you don’t get to tell half the story. Not when you were in the middle of it.”
Alexander, a childhood friend whom Spears married while under the influence in Las Vegas before the marriage was quickly annulled, went on to criticize Federline for portraying himself as an “innocent bystander” in his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, while witnessing Spears’ “struggles.”

In a statement shared with Us on Tuesday by a representative for Spears, the pop star’s camp claimed that Federline’s book is an attempt to profit off her. “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” the statement read. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. Alexander echoed the sentiment via his Instagram post, directing further comments directly to Federline. “You didn’t walk away empty-handed either. Alden was the troubled teen, who pushed his dad’s buttons, while his sister followed the rules and worried about how Alden’s run-ins with the law were affecting their dad.

While Alden had a good relationship with his dad prior to his death — which viewers saw play out during the season 22 finale in May — his sister didn’t appear to think he changed.
After dodging Harriet’s calls and getting benched by Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) amid his father’s murder investigation, Harriet arrived at NCIS headquarters in Washington, D.C. The three-star admiral was stern, buttoned up and not a fan of her brother when she picked up their father’s personal effects from Chief Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
“He must’ve been so proud, both of his kids serving their country,” Jimmy told Harriet when she asked about where her dad’s mug with Naval stickers everywhere was in his personal items.
Harriet quipped, “My brother couldn’t have worn the uniform even if he wanted to,” referring to Alden’s juvenile record, which she made clear was worse than any of his NCIS team members knew.
“People do change,” Jimmy told Harriet, to which she responded, “Some do and others just stay stuck in the same loop.”

Throughout the episode, Alden remained committed to catching Nexus cartel leader Carla Morino (Rebecca De Mornay), who shot his dad in his house after kidnapping Aldean during the season 2 finale. His tension with his sister, however, remained on his mind.
“She followed the rules, made all the sacrifices, and wore the uniform,” Alden told Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) of Harriet.
After Knight pointed out, “And you wear a badge,” Alden explained it’s “not the same thing. Not to her.”
He added that losing their father “makes it easier to point the finger” at who was to blame for his murder — even if it was neither one’s fault.
At the end of the premiere, Alden found himself stowed away on a carrier ship, which Carla was using to get herself out of the country. While the team tried to figure out how to Alden off the ship and take down Carla without anything going awry, Harriet and her team took over the operation.
“NCIS personnel, follow the instructions from my team and then clear the room,” Harriet ordered as the Navy Special Operations took charge.

During the final moments of the episode, Harriet was ordered to blow the ship out of the water to eliminate Carla and the weapons and personnel tied to active threat networks, which the Navy had been tracking for months.
“My orders are clear: disable or destroy before it clears U.S. waters. Carla Morino tried to detonate a dirty bomb on U.S. soil, command is not giving her a chance to try again,” Harriet said, before Alden’s team tried to talk her down from giving the order.
“Give me another option,” Harriet told Vance, as she stared at the command board. “Yankee 1 and 2, you are cleared hot. Fire!”
The episode ended with an ominous “To be continued” warning.

In the unforgiving arena of Malawian politics, loyalty and integrity are currencies far more valuable than empty promises and opportunistic alliances.
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) stands at a critical crossroads, faced with the reckless ambition of three political deserters—Nicholas Dausi, Ken Msonda, and Uladi Mussa—who now shamelessly seek to re-enter the fold they once betrayed.
This is not merely a matter of political preference; it is a profound test of character, principle, and the very soul of the DPP.
These men, who once proudly wore the DPP badge, turned their backs on the party at the most crucial moment—during the recent elections—undermining its leader, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, a man revered within the party as “Adad,” or father.
Their relentless campaign of slander was not just a political strategy; it was a calculated assault on the dignity of the party and the man who has dedicated his life to its cause.
To label their former leader with vile epithets such as “nkhalambaa yogona tulo,” to question his health and fitness to lead Malawi, and to hurl unprintable insults is not the behavior of committed party members—it is the hallmark of bitter opportunists seeking personal gain at the expense of collective progress.
The betrayal was more than verbal. These three were instrumental in the infamous parallel DPP convention, an act of rebellion that sought to fracture the party’s unity by installing Kondwani Nankhumwa as an alternative leader.
A court rightly dismissed this farcical gathering, exposing it for the sham it was.
The disciplinary actions that followed—expulsion for Nicholas Dausi and Ken Msonda and suspension for Uladi Mussa—were not just punitive but necessary to preserve the party’s integrity.
Yet, instead of accepting their fate with dignity, these men chose to defect to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), where they continued their vendetta against DPP and APM, spewing venom and fueling division.
Their recent overtures to return to DPP reveal nothing but their insatiable greed and political opportunism. It is an insult to every loyalist who stood firm behind APM and the party during the darkest hours of the campaign.
These remnants of discord are not merely returning; they are demanding a welcome mat, ignoring the damage they caused and the trust they betrayed.
The DPP must resist this folly with every fiber of its being. To entertain their return is to invite chaos, disloyalty, and the erosion of the party’s hard-earned reputation.
Political commentator Mathews Namukhoyo’s words resonate with undeniable truth: “DPP should never accommodate people like Kondwani Nankhumwa, Nicholas Dausi, Uladi Mussa, Ken Msonda, and those who despised and spoke ill of APM.” These men are not political assets; they are liabilities, a toxic reminder of internal strife and betrayal.
Their previous actions were not mere political differences but active sabotage—a betrayal that no party committed to its principles and future should overlook or forgive.
The DPP’s strength lies in its unity and the unwavering loyalty of its members.
Those who turn their backs in pursuit of personal power, only to return when convenient, undermine the very foundation of disciplined politics. The party is not a revolving door for fortune seekers and disgruntled opportunists.
It is a movement grounded in shared values, vision, and respect for leadership. APM’s leadership has been weathered by storms, yet he remains a figure of stability and fatherly guidance.
To allow those who once spat venom at him back into the fold is to weaken the moral backbone of the party.
It is imperative that DPP’s leadership and membership collectively stand firm against the temptation to forgive and forget in the name of political expediency. The cost of such leniency is too high.
It sends the wrong message to loyalists who endured insults and attacks, who campaigned tirelessly for the party’s victory. It emboldens those who see betrayal as a viable path to political relevance.
It diminishes the dignity of the party and tarnishes the legacy of APM, who deserves respect from all who claim allegiance to DPP.
The DPP must unequivocally reject the return of Nicholas Dausi, Ken Msonda, Uladi Mussa, and their ilk. Their past actions reveal a pattern of disloyalty, greed, and divisiveness that cannot be reconciled with the party’s values.
The party’s future depends on its ability to uphold discipline, honor loyalty, and protect its leadership from those who would seek to exploit it for personal gain.
The path ahead requires courage and clarity—qualities that the DPP must summon to preserve its integrity and continue its mission to serve Malawi under the steadfast leadership of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The party’s conscience must be its guide; and the message must be loud and clear: the door is closed to the unrepentant traitors who seek to return. Loyalty is not negotiable.
